binatone 19 June 2003 05:38 PM

as fast as you can

Nick_TypeUK 19 June 2003 05:39 PM

i thought it was

70 on a A road duel carrageway
60 on a B road duel carrageway (if they exsist ;))

mind you my copy of the highway code was steam press printed

i love the way they stick to the old braking distances based on 0.55g (and the THINK add where they had trouble finding a family saloon without ABS so they could lock the wheels up to try and match the official figures) most cars easily pull over 1g on a dry road and good performance cars are getting close to 1.15-1.2g

Dual carriageway displaying national speed limit = 70
Single carrigae way displaying national speed limit = 60

WagonRich 19 June 2003 05:46 PM

Definatly 70. (Assuming national speed limit area)

Chelspeed 19 June 2003 06:42 PM

> 10 paces at dawn on a duel carriageway

Very good.

pugoetru 19 June 2003 06:46 PM

depends if there are any cameras!!

hades 19 June 2003 07:33 PM

IIRC it is also 60mph where there is no central barrier (eg if there's only a little bit of grass, or a painted dual line etc). Whether that is because it doesn't technically count as a dual carriage way, I'm not certain.

But normally 70. ;)

NotoriousREV 19 June 2003 08:41 PM

Or 60 in a van as a van driving mate of mine recently found out

Carl2 19 June 2003 09:17 PM

Or 50 in a lorry

GarethE 19 June 2003 09:18 PM

As I understand it its 70 on a dual carriageway with a central reservation (it doesn't have to be a barrier, so long as there is a divide), and 60 on a single.

However its still 60 on an A road consisting of three lanes, such as the sections of the Heads of the Valleys road in S Wales, if the central lane is shared or if you have an overtaking lane on your side, with a single oncoming lane marked by a solid white line.

Hope that makes sense

Edited cos I realised it didn't make sense...it still might not unless you know the Heads of the Valleys road !!!

Beastie 19 June 2003 09:20 PM

B road limit is 50mph

S.B. 19 June 2003 09:21 PM

What about round corners?

pugoetru 19 June 2003 09:22 PM

b road is 50 is that for each axle!

devon03 19 June 2003 09:53 PM

ON A 'THREE LANE ROAD' ONLY 50 AS THERE IS NO CENTRAL RESERVATION AS I FOUND TO MY COST!
