Just used the Samurai Kit for the first time this weekend and I am very pleased with the results.

My question is, once you have waxed it the first time, what is the next step in terms of the next wash.

Do I

a) Just use the car bath shampoo in the kit
b) As above and wax again
c) Redo all the steps from the original kit instructions
d) Use a completely different shampoo (not sure if car bath strips the wax)

Just want to save myself some time on the next wash if I don't need to repeat the steps again as it took me over two hours.

Use car bath, re-apply wax when you like (i go for once per month)
Do the total cleanse thing twice per year!

scooby_si 29 May 2003 04:28 PM

yeah trust me when u give it the car bath next week or whenever it will look proper shiny all over again

scooby_si 29 May 2003 04:29 PM

I just use the Car Bath to wash and re wax every month. Helps keep the flies off too!!!

Andy555 29 May 2003 05:17 PM

I did mine for the first time at the weekend. Great results. :D
I have now noticed that there are a couple of areas that need doing again with the clay bar, which I missed. Can I do these small areas without deep cleaning, and only washing, clay baring and waxing?

WRX_BLUES 29 May 2003 05:27 PM

Cheers guys! Really appreciate that! Saved me a lot of time and elbow grease :D

Fatman 29 May 2003 06:55 PM

Cool! I was going to ask exactly the same question. I spent about 6 hours cleaning the car last Saturday with my new Swissol Samurai kit. Amazing results, well worth the effort.

Regarding the car bath - the booklet specifically states that it doesn't strip the wax off. :)

Been washing and waxing with Swissol products from day one and no other car in a 1000km radius comes anywhere close to the shine :)

The way I do mine is to wash and wash+wax alternately - for me it's a weekly thing or fortnightly depending on the weather...if there's some crap on the front and on the wing mirrors after a "spirited" drive thru the country, I'll stop at a local car wash and blast them off with a jet wash and clean water.

When a little speck needs the clay bar treatment, I'll try to leave it to the day I'm gonna wax the car. Use the special Swissol fluid to treat the area, then the clay bar, then rub off with a towel...then wax.

The deep cleanse gets done twice a year...it's a lot of work but by God, it's worth it !

(Heard those dreaded words from the other half today..."I'm starting to get fed up with you and your car"...I'd been out to the jet wash to remove remnants of small animal/bird/blood from the passenger window...then went for a 20 minute drive just to dry the car off :))

russell hayward 29 May 2003 08:22 PM

If you need to use the clay bar to do some areas you have missed etc, its best to go over these areas with cleaner wax/cleanse after the clay, then wax.

Mark Underwood 29 May 2003 08:35 PM

WRX_Blues

Now that you have completed the initial cleaner fluid and waxing here is what you do.

Every week wash the car with Car Bath (its detergent free and will NOT strip the wax) Then dry the car. Then as it is now summer, apply some wax to the high impact areas....mirror pods, headlamps, front number plate, front bumper and any driving lamps and the first 6 inches of yer bonnet....takes about 5 mins to do and then buff. Followuing this will stop bug splatter sticking to the car and makes them easy to wash off the following weekend.

Once per month after washing and drying the car...re wax the whole car.

In October go thru the whole process again...wash, dry, cleaner fluid and wax. During the winter months try and wax the whole car evry 3 weeks as this will protect from road salts.

Next spring (Easter 2004) go thru the whole process again and then follow the summer routine there after.

triple6 29 May 2003 08:45 PM

Where do you get this Samurai kit from then? just bought some Zymol polish thinking it was the dogs Doh..

Fatman 29 May 2003 08:58 PM

I got my kit from Scoobyworld. They've just dropped their prices - d'oh! (No connection, etc.)

Mark - you mention waxing the headlights. I assume by this you mean the lenses(?). If so, how would the Samurai wax respond to high temps generated by HID lights?

[Edited 'cos I can't spell!]

Jeff Wiltshire 29 May 2003 10:01 PM

Triple 6 ......you can by the Swissol stuff from Mark Underwood...

RichiW 29 May 2003 10:23 PM

Fatman, it never bothered my Evo6 with plastic lanses and 100/130w lamps.

:)

dougies549 29 May 2003 10:50 PM

Hi Moe

I wouln'd worry about that with you as you is alway's to darn busy to out with the car let alone polish it. :)

Cheers Dougie

P.S What kind of price is this kit coming in at, mail if not wanting to put on the board.

STi-Frenchie 29 May 2003 11:09 PM

You know what they say...if you have to ask...

HOWEVER, the truth is that it's expensive to start off with but the value is that you get loads of life from the products so it actually works out cheaper in the long run.

I wouldn't use anything else on my car. Swiss quality speaks for itself and the Anwanders have been in the business for many years, not to mention Mark Underwood's contribution which is substantial.

I did my mother-in-law's Scenic with it and her garage stood back and claimed that nothing in France could shine a car the same way - they were baffled and blinded by the shine. I did her car once (she IS my M-I-L after all) and they still talk about it to this day. I kid you not.

Lay out money for a performance motor - give it a performance shine and to hell with the price ! Also, forget all the pretenders - Zymol, Meguiars etc - good products surely, but doesn't your car *deserve* the best?

lordharding 29 May 2003 11:18 PM

i thought long and hard about spending the money and wish id done it 2 years ago
its better then when it came out of the showroom 3 years ago

3 weeks now and the shine is out of this world

im sure the winner of the car of the day award at the NBO will be one polished with swissel polish its that good

you will not regret it

i have stopped using mirrors in the house now :D

midlife-crisis-scooby 29 May 2003 11:19 PM

WRX Blues

I do the "wax the bits the flies hit" with my Swissol wax and it's GREAT.

Just watch those dead flies float off the paint!! :D

Midlife....

PS I have a MY02 WRX and was advised by Mark that for new cars the "shield" wax with Teflon keeps the showroom type shine.

WRX_BLUES 30 May 2003 01:49 PM

Cheers Mark! Fantastic product BTW. I would definitely recommend to anyone. I was sceptical until I used it. Funny thing was when I was going over polishing I slipped and nearly fell ass over tit!

Andy555 30 May 2003 02:15 PM

I was sceptical until I used it.
Thats exactly how I felt, but now I will not use anything else. Its the "Roll Royce" of polishes. I still will not tell many people how much it costs. I told my girlfriend that it was expensive, so she is thinking it cost over 10 quid :p

Once the car has been prepared, the actual polishing is so easy.

Highly recommended!!!

GU5 30 May 2003 02:16 PM

Washed it and waxed it over a month ago, deceided to wash the (rap off at the weekend and was greeted with this

davyboy 30 May 2003 02:25 PM

Who wants to do it to my car then.

I don't mind cleaning it, but waxing is too much like hard work.

Who wants to earn a few quid?

Andy555 30 May 2003 02:29 PM

The actual waxing is the easy part. :D

Its the Clay Bar and deep cleaner which takes time, but this is a once/twice yearly task, as after you have done this once, the paint can be just cleaned then waxed.

Mark Underwood 30 May 2003 08:12 PM

one wax headlamps irrespective of the bulbs

Mark Underwood 30 May 2003 10:38 PM

davyboy...I,m on my travels for nx 2 weeks....I could do it if you want inc engine bay etc

*TopCat* 31 May 2003 08:10 AM

Bradders 31 May 2003 01:09 PM

Received my Swissol Onyx Wax and Cleaner Fluid from Mark Underwood last week and the results were outstanding! Cleansing took me a good 2 hours and waxing about 30 mins.
Mark is a top bloke and his advice and service were first class. I sent the cheque and received the products about three days later. Waxing was much easier than i thought, especially using the provided applicator, and it looks as if i will easily get 30 to 40 applications from one 250 ml pot of wax.
Any one thinking about buying swissol products....just do it!

Bradders

Matski 03 June 2003 12:01 AM

Just bought some swissol and I was wondering what the wax applicator was. Should there be one provided or do I need to order one seperately.
