XP automatic updates won't install, when i'm prompted to install them a window opens but the installation never starts. The last time i just left it for a while and eventually a message appeared to say that the updates didn't have the MS approval mark 'thingy' and it strongly recomended me not to install them. I could understand it if it was just my computer settings interfeing but as they are not MS security marked as well i'm a bit mystified...any help please, thanks.

I don't even know what a blacklisted activation key is so unless it's been 'activated' accidently then i can safely say no ,thanks for the help though, i'll check out the troubleshooter ,cheers.

Is the Cryptographic service enabled under Administrative tools-> Services, this has to be enabled to get the update process to work.
