Seems like a lot less people are having a traditional round the table Sunday lunch these days. Shame really as its a good time to have a family get-together.

Seems the youngsters all want Mcd's(I know what id rather have) and others just couldnt be bothered or dont know how to cook it.

Sadly another British tradition is on the way out.

Chip.

Cant beat a good roast. Nice bit of pork with crackling. But they key bit is defintely the gravy - it makes a roast. I think most people cant be arsed these days as its a fair bit of effort if you have all the trimmings. Especially when you can go down the pub and get it for £7. One of our local pubs does the best roast ever. The scottish beef melts in your mouth and the gravy is gorgeous with a hint of red wine. And your own plate of veggies.

Simon.

I cook one every Sunday - meat, roasters, mash, PROPER yorkshires (no Aunt Bessies in my house!) ;) & at least 3 veg. Must admit I use Bisto Best gravy though!

Bisto gravy - you heathen!

Actually the Aunt Bessie yorkies you have to bake are pretty nice - but the pre-baked ones are rank.

Simon.

Chip 25 May 2003 09:33 PM

No, its got to be real gravy and real yorkies.

Chip.

J4CKO 25 May 2003 10:00 PM

You eat Yorkshire Terriers ?

must need to roast a couple for a decent meal....

RON 25 May 2003 10:22 PM

Luke 25 May 2003 11:29 PM

Gravy

makes the meal............... so do it well.

unclebuck 25 May 2003 11:58 PM

I luv a good Roastie myself :D Chickin is easy to do at home... but for the full (beef, pork, lamb) works find a good pub and make it a treat. No prep and no washing up ;) By good I mean one where they are like your mum in that they say "have as much as you like, and there's plenty more if you want it"... heaven:D
