Is Ray Smith (mobiletoys.co.uk) the only company selling Focal speakers in the UK ?? Can't find anyone else online selling them !?!

chiark 07 May 2003 01:03 PM

CarAudioDirect don't do 'em to my knowledge.

try Car Audio Discount

or Turners Online
or MobileToys

Thanks guys, will take a look later.

Caraudiodirect don't do them , but goonasuk's link doesn't go to them anyway, it goes to caraudiodiscount !! Had me confused there for a minute !!

What's your opinion of them chiark ?? I had a set of the 165A's and liked them. Are the higher end ones worth the money ?? Was thinking about the 165V's (£200 ish).

chiark 07 May 2003 01:29 PM

They'll be a sod to fit ;) - I think they're deeper. To be honest, I've only heard the access range in an Impreza so couldn't really comment.

kart_man 07 May 2003 02:29 PM

Yep, even the access's were a bit of fun fitting !! What do you think of the access's out of interest ?

chiark 07 May 2003 02:33 PM

On the whole, I liked 'em. Lots of midbass (very lots) and a fairly good sound. Still quite lively/bright, but more controlled treble than the Infinity IMHO.

For the money, it's difficult to find better but they are "fun" to fit in the new shape.

goonasuk 07 May 2003 03:41 PM

DOH Forgot to change the title of the URL - was supposed to be CarAudioDiscount ;) Sorry for confusion

Si.t 07 May 2003 07:57 PM

try cel-direct, they're good on price. Good luck with the fitting - just have patience!!!!

pbee 08 May 2003 10:15 AM

I had great difficulty having these fitted in a my03. in the end I gave up and sent them back (still awaiting refund).

They fit into classics ok. And I think rememember someone getting these into a new age but the 3 hi fi installers i took the focal access 165a's too couldnt see how to fit them in my my03.

the cheapest place I found was

http://www.car-hifi.co.uk/focal/itm00058.htm

£ 115.99 & 10 delivery, but be warned they were not to pleased about taking them back because they didnt fit.

kart_man 08 May 2003 10:39 AM

Thanks guys. There for a P1 so fitting should be ok. I've put them in a UK classic 5 door before, so I know roughly what needs done.
That last compnayb seem to be the only one that drop from the RRP, so thanks for that :)

if you order, they will probably be the set I returned, nothing wrong with them, but still havent got my refund yet :-(.

you could always mention me in the notes as they havent replied to any e-mails.

cheers

Peter.

chiark 08 May 2003 12:55 PM

Just a thought, but... Kartman, pbee... Why not...

You can see where I'm going with this, I'm sure :D

kart_man 08 May 2003 01:10 PM

I'm still deciding between the 165a's and 165v's, and I think pbee's already returned anyway. Nice idea though :)

smurph 08 May 2003 09:12 PM

Kartman,

Just bought a pair of Focal 165As from Turners - £99.99 + £10 postage.

Eagerly awaiting their arrival tomorrow.

kart_man 12 May 2003 12:54 PM

Enjoy ! I certainly liked them. Just trying to justify 300 notes for a set of utopias... !?!?!?

Anybody heard them in action ??

Cyberevo 12 May 2003 02:29 PM

I have the Polly-K2's in a Teg and the sound very good indeed.
