Hope passing canal boats don't use up my 1gig NTL limit!

for the lot.

Jack,

That isn't really in the spirit of warchalking is it ? I thought the game was that someone else chalks you and you have to keep rubbing out the chalk.

Well that seem to be the game around where my HQ is :D

Anyway, I would hate that. Go on a canal holiday for a week and then come across Jacks house. You could check your email, you could download the weather forecast. But no, you couldn't because you haven't taken your laptop because there are no phone lines on the canal (and the missus wouldn't let you anyway) ;)

Jack, maybe you should put a PC out on the canal bank in a little shed and charge £5 an hour for surfing. ;)

Cheers

Ian

Guess I'm the sharing type! More a joke than anything.

Puff The Magic Wagon! 10 February 2003 06:00 PM

You mean its WEP enabled & you're just hiding behind the net curtains looking for frustrated lappy users o/side your house ;)

JackClark 10 February 2003 06:08 PM

Now that would be a laugh!

No WEP it realy is open. There's even a shared directory on one of my machines that passing strangers can use for file storage. "I didn't download that file, honest officer!" :D

HHxx 10 February 2003 07:43 PM

Jack, shhh on the wireless front. NTL doesn't allow that in their AUP :(

Quinten 20 March 2003 03:52 PM

I'll be taking my lappy down the canal this weekend and see if I can stumble into it ;)

Q.

JackClark 20 March 2003 04:47 PM

Aylesbury arm of the Grand Union, first row of houses near the basin :)

Scoobychick 20 March 2003 05:03 PM

Imagine if someone who ran a couple of boatyards and knew countless people on boats on the Grand Union was reading this.... :D:D:D:p

I'll pass the word around, you'd be amazed at how quickly the Towpath Telegraph works ;)

Sal

Go for it Sal. It'd be funny to hear from someone who managed a broadband connection on their narrowboat :)

Just don't tell NTL
