There was a lot of posts about problems with PS2 and SONy issued a recall I believe.

Has the latest versions fixed all the problems, as I want to buy one.

Never heard anything about a recall.

My friends playstation 2 seems to dislike certain disks and puts a nice big scratch on them. This has happened to two copies of Tecken Tag now.

Is this a know fault

I presume that all PS2's shipping now are 3rd generation if so is there anything that I should look at to check I am not buying a duffer?

Me and a few mates bought PS2s at the start of Feb, no problems so far.

JoeyD you say that you are getting scratches, are you running the machine vertically? I was told by a guy in a local Game shop that having the machine vertically can put major scratches on the disks that stop them from working! I don't know what Sony's official word is on this.
