I'm considering to place a genuine STI shortshift on my scoob, but not everybody who bought it is happy with it.
Its supposed to shorten the geartrow, but also stiffen things up, what should I do...some people says its actually more difficult to select a gear at high revs with the shortshift ...

As soon as you shorten the throw the shift becomes stiffer!
I have made and modified a couple of quick shifts but eventualy found the best result was from shortening the original gearstick,
just run a M12 die down the existing thread and cut the same amount again, then cut off the original thread and replace the Knob job done.
This gives you a sporty shorter stick (original one is very long) and a shorter shift but very smooth.

you mean the bar were the gearknob is screwed on, and leave the mechanism like it is, i tought so...

yeah understand it, did the same thing with one of my previous cars : Opel Astra 16v, bloody hell those quickshifts, trashed my gearbox and finally came to the conclusion that shortening the trow is the best way,
thanks,

And if you want more feel, a couple of bushes can cover that... IMHO that is a fair chunk of the effect of many of the kits.

Buy a J W Racing quickshift- a lot less money than the competitors, adjustable throw and a quality piece of kit:D

thanks a lot guys, almost forgot to shift now....

Yep
Belive me I have made so many different bits adjusting the pivot point to adjust the throw, but just shortening the stick it's self is the business.
