Get your wheel alignment checked, I did very similar and bent bottom swinging arm, couldn't see the damage, but you could feel it.

Yesterday i put my Terzo through a hedge at around 80 mph side ways all the damage it did was scratched the side,also a little dent and lost the drivers side mirror,the body shop said the scratches will polish out and the dent will push out.Now i need help to tell me how to take the mirror off please.

You seem to have found the most extreme way of removing the mirror, Haynes manuals are a bit safer.
