CraigH 29 October 2002 10:47 AM

After all the "debate" - who is genuinely 100% interested in attending SIDC trackdays - all marques not just subaru or jap please :)

I'll start with me........:)

dingy 29 October 2002 10:52 AM

I am not re-joining to be banned again.

:D

clubby 29 October 2002 10:52 AM

Me. Knockhill please, anywhere else is too far.

Puff The Magic Wagon! 29 October 2002 10:52 AM

Me :D

Funds permitting

Excellent place to meet like-minded petrolheads and people off SN. Makes it more enjoyable if your m8s are there :D

:)

Oh & dinge, take it as read that you don't need to be an SIDC member to participate at one of their events - just expect to pay a small premium over non-members. That satisfy you? ;)

:)

davyboy 29 October 2002 10:57 AM

What the point of this?

Loads of people will say yes, and when it comes to paying the same people will make excuses.

David_Wallis 29 October 2002 10:57 AM

Do you need a current driving licence, and whats the story with insurance for sidc days?

David

CraigH 29 October 2002 10:59 AM

Davyboy - yes I know - but 3 of the posts here I know are genuine - will be goood to get a gauge of interest......

dingy 29 October 2002 11:03 AM

James
I would re-join if i knew i was allowed on.

I know several people that would rejoin if the SIDC changed the track day policy.

;)

Puff The Magic Wagon! 29 October 2002 11:04 AM

davyboy

Thats why it reads "genuinely" but is not actually asking for a committment or money for a certain day. Craig is seeking to find out the actual level of interest there is in holding track days at all and those that are likely to attend.

Thats how I read it and I am "genuinely" interested in attending SIDC days.

:)

Puff The Magic Wagon! 29 October 2002 11:07 AM

Dinge

You don't have to rejoin to participate in SIDC track days. Bedford was open to members/non-members & scoobs/other trash ;)

Is your 'scort actually running ATM?

:)

davyboy 29 October 2002 11:10 AM

I will stick my neck on the block then.

Providing my girlfreind does not want to go to Ikea of course, or get her hair cut ;)

dingy 29 October 2002 11:17 AM

James the escort is off the road at the moment, due for come back with LOADS of mods ;)

Including some new engine stuff ;)

gregh 29 October 2002 11:19 AM

yes (in a westfield)

Paid for and attended many SIDC track days in the past.

Greg

Fantom 29 October 2002 11:19 AM

would love to do a trackday, but whether I can get the time to go to one, and be bothered to pay a few hundred for it is another story. At the moment I'd rather spend the money on modifications.

ARRON BIRD 29 October 2002 11:22 AM

Craig as per telecon,
I am up for it.
Perhaps you and I should start our own track day organisation.
We probably know enough people to fill a day pretty quickly.
Deffo needs to be £195 member or not.
Membership means nothing to me anyway for £25.

Puff The Magic Wagon! 29 October 2002 11:22 AM

Can't wait :D Bagsy a ride when its all done. I was watching the sideways action of the MKIIs in the forest on sunday - well class seeing as they're 25 yrs old

So, you can stick dinge down as a deffo too :D

gregh 29 October 2002 11:22 AM

David,

All track days I've been to (bar Elvington) have asked to see a valid license.

regards

Greg

Thanks fantom - missed the point of the thread I think...

jayb415 29 October 2002 11:25 AM

I would be interested for defo. Used to be a member and attend the trackdays, which were great (good price, open pit lane, meet with like minded peeps :) ), until the trouble started with non scoobs being allowed on track :( I let my memebership lapse after that.

Cheers

Jay

Would be interested in track days .... once i have my subaru (hopefully next month now) ... track days are always a good laugh.

Brett

Tim Taylor 29 October 2002 11:39 AM

I used to go in my last scoob and have had very good days. But last year I saw too many accidents which has put me off using my new WRX. I would love to attend the SIDC days but in another vehicle. If I could use my 'track car' on SIDC days then I'll go and I wouldn't mind paying a 'little' bit more for driving a non-scoob on the day.

So take that as a yes if I can use a different car.

Tim

JackClark 29 October 2002 11:43 AM

I'm hoping to do at least one 'Driver Education' day in the next year.

Eh ?

Are SIDC not running enough KH days for you ? (there are enough for me)

Do you think that other marques are not welcome ? (think about the last one ... there were even two Novas on track !)

Mo 29 October 2002 11:47 AM

Funds permitting........yes.

T16GER 29 October 2002 12:07 PM

I'm always interested in track day...:D

but won't be doning anymore till either the new car is built..:D

or the old car is re-built...:D

but after that just try and stop me being there...:D

but only if they are opened up to everyone not just Scooby's as the new car will be a bit of a hybrid (ok, ok it'll be a barstool of differnet cars...:D)...

Neil Arrowsmith 29 October 2002 12:27 PM

Did my 1st SIDC track day Aug 98 @ Castle Coombe, had a great time saw some great cars & met some good people. Also combined this with a weekend in Bath with the wife.
Since then have managed to do at least one a year, what with doing up the house and being a Dad for the first time 5 months ago, Nov 30th was going to be my 2nd Bedford for the year. Cheque was paid on anouncement day, Gutted!

K9VYN [Kevin W] 29 October 2002 12:56 PM

Always interested - been a little while since my last. Think I'll get Xmas, New Year and vandalism repair out the way 1st though. So spring time..... ;-)

Greggers 29 October 2002 01:14 PM

I would be, but last time I enquired I got the distinct feeling that other marques were not welcome (I drive a Cosworth)...if that attitude has died off however, I'd love to.

TaviaRS 29 October 2002 01:15 PM

Yep, I'd be interested, provided no-one objects to a slow black Skoda pottering around the track. :D

I have been know to venture on track occasionally so providing the dates are OK, yep I'm in. Don't care about venue so much, I'll travel for a good circuit.

TonyG 29 October 2002 01:19 PM

Deffo interested - done two so far at Donington through the SIDC, thoroughly enjoyed it. Had signed up for the Trax one this year before it was cancelled.
