No No No

I didn't make myself clear. Thats £2000 off the current dealer price which is currently £19995.

So £18000 for new WRX from a dealer

BTW I had a look at the site. Are these cars imports? Will they part ex with your old car? Most of the prices are £17699. You have to add "All vehicles are subject to an indemnity fee of £51.00 and a DVLA/Number Plate surcharge of £41.00 and 6 or 12 months road tax at current rates. By my reconing that brings to cost to £17941. Thats £59 cheaper. To me I would rather go to my local dealer, 2miles away, have a good chat and cup of cofee.

No, i saw the pics of the MY03 and thought it wasn't too bad, i drove past mill lane and a MY01/02 was parked outsite. It looked much better.

Out of interest - are you lot the same ones who rushed out to buy the last Beta Video-Recorders because they were 'cheap'??

Look where they went to-the BIN!! ........................ these cars are cheap for a reason, its because they NEED to clear them!! WHY?? Well, a NEW one has come out because the old one was about as popular as a fart in a space-suit!!

Get your marbles together, dont buy yet, wait till they drop to £14995 - as they will - if you lot leave them alone!!

Pete

Just come off the phone froma scooby dealer. He informs me that they will be discounting the WRX by 2000 to get rid of old stock ready for the 03 cars

polarbearit 05 October 2002 04:15 PM

Yep, so its £19745 instead of £20745... Still another £2-3k cheaper to import one, and you'll still get the discount on the new shape ;)

britannia99 05 October 2002 04:41 PM

www.tins.co.uk have brand new WRX's for £18,000.

I have seen 6month old imports for as low as £15,000.

Scoobsouth 05 October 2002 04:54 PM

Hello chaps,

I can confirm this, as I have spoken to my local dealer this afternoon

RRH 05 October 2002 08:24 PM

Ian from stn palmer subaru in carlisle has told me about this today. Not much saving buying an import when you can buy a UK car so cheap. I have heard from another source that there's loads of 5 doors unsold so maybe you can do an even better deal on the 'stealth' model!

simon:D

WARNING - these cars will be worthless when 03 hits the streets - only buy IF you are going to keep it for ever - AND you dont mind driving one of the ugliest carbuncles on the road!!

I would own one if they paid me - but ONLY then! I would put my UK Standard Classic in the garage to increase in value!!

Pete

And you think the new one is better? I drove past mill lane and thought the MY01 actually looked OK, compared to the MY03.

pslewis 05 October 2002 09:29 PM

SL2 - you must live close to me then  You lucky person ;)

Have Mill Lane got a 03 in then?? I shall go and have a look!

Pete

SlowBoy 06 October 2002 06:13 PM

Advert in the back of autocar mag is offering £4k off a WRX and £2k off the STi. Guess they heve to shift them before Feb when the MY03 hits the showrooms. Sounds like a good deal to me.

petrolhead 06 October 2002 06:43 PM

Slowboy can you expand on this a little.

Who are they?

£4000 and £2000 discound from what starting point.

naturbo2000 07 October 2002 06:34 PM

And you can use the cash left over to buy some big GOLD wheels :D

SlowBoy 08 October 2002 12:23 AM

Add was in the back of Autocar magazine. I believe the discount is offerred against the list price of £22k for a WRX, bringing the price to £18k, if my maths is correct :)

It's in the back of the current edition, or maybe last weeks, not sure. Anyway, it's the copy with the MY03, Evo VIII and new Clio V6 on the cover.

I'll check when I get home tonight and post details here tomorrow.

Personally, I think it's a good deal.

SlowBoy 09 October 2002 12:39 PM

Details as follows:
(From Autocar Oct 2/02, p120)

WRX STI £23,999

Cars are UK spec, 3yrs warranty, immediate delivery.

Neil Smalley 09 October 2002 12:54 PM

Subaru are safe with the STI Prices. There's no new ones left to sell..

petrolhead 09 October 2002 12:57 PM

Yes, saw it, thanks

DanTheMan 09 October 2002 11:12 PM

erm has someone missed the point here ?
you have been able to buy WRX's for £16158 otr from EU importers like Litchfield for ages, thats like £4500 cheaper.......
and I bet the MY03 will be the same price:)
its still rip off Britain you know :(

Harry_Boy 09 October 2002 11:21 PM

100% true Dan. Until there is pre-tax price harmony across the EU, it will always be beneficial to import.

petrolhead 10 October 2002 09:36 AM

I thought the government were addressing this issue
