In his classic tune 'A Higher State of Conciousness' what is the lead instrument?
As far as I know it's a Roland TB-303 Bassline. University Challenge on the other hand claim it's a Moog Synthesiser?!:D:D So who's right? |
No idea, but the Dexy and Jonesy remix rocked :D
|
difficult to say ub. a decent synth (like the later Moogs) could emulate TB303's anyway. the sound seems to have too much complexity for a TB303.
the hi-hats definately a TR909 though but you knew that anyway. have you tried steinberg's rebirth? |
Yea, you may be right, but I don't think it sounds like a Moog - which one anyway? There are loads.
It's when it goes right up high it sounds most 303ish. never heard a Moog do that, but I suppose it could. Could be a Novation Bass Station maybe?? Yep, I've played with Rebirth - quite cool:cool: but I have an MC-303 Groovebox which *is* cool :D:D Best 125 quid I ever spent :D |
Definately was a 303
|
yep was definately a TB 303
:) |
Yep, that's certainly what I had always assumed. :D ;)
Time to inform the BBC then... :D:D:p |
hmm..
A music forum I read thinks different... but still Roland gear of the same era :D "I was always pretty convinced it was a 303, but a little look about the web suggests it was actually the 303's little brother, the MC-202" Either way University Challenge is wrong :p:D [Edited by uncle buck - 9/17/2002 11:59:29 AM] |
Was a TB 303
202 has different filters and stuff. I did actually read an interview with Josh and he stated it was a 303- he has about 4 of them. |
oh boy...:D we have controversy here...
check out: this Down at the bottom "Josh Wink - used it (MC-202)to create that "tweeking" sound in the acid classic "Higher State of Consciousness". " |
Jesus guys you lot put techie geeks to shame :)
|
It's important stuff this :D
I need to know so I can put Paxman straight :D:D |

|
