I was thinking of a way to make the Staffordshire Meet 2 even bigger and better.

So, I thought........Okay, yeah, yeah get the insults over and done with thankyou ;) :p

How about doing a kind of treasure hunt???
I give out a sheet of paper with slightly cryptic clues of things to spot and note down on the route.
There will be an "entry fee" so to speak along with a first and second prize.
The rest of the money will be donated to the charity of Nick Wild's family's choice in honour of him :)

Are you interested in doing this sort of thing?
What kind of "entry fee" would you be happy to pay?

Please post up :D

scooby-si 15 September 2002 11:12 PM

COULD BE A LAUGHT:D

£5 to enter

u got to have a clue for scooby doo lol :D

Little Miss WRX 15 September 2002 11:16 PM

Excellent :D

Was thinking along the lines of £5 :D

I have something already half prepared so I just want to see what the interest is - thanks scooby-si :D
Anyone else??? :D

ChrisB 15 September 2002 11:19 PM

Yeah, these are

Have to spot things on houses and stuff on en-route.

Little Miss WRX 15 September 2002 11:26 PM

 :D

CharlieWhiskey 15 September 2002 11:38 PM

Excellent idea as long as it is subltle enough to be done en-route, I have toyed with this idea in the past and know it has to be done right, but then you always did know how! ;) :D

Little Miss WRX 15 September 2002 11:38 PM

I am thinking about designing a T-shirt for the meet too.

I could then offer them at cost price plus a quid or two which will go to charity in honour of Nick Wild also.

If peeps would want something like that I will get a couple of designs put together (Once I can fecking well open up photoshop  :p) and put them up to vote.

Little Miss WRX 15 September 2002 11:39 PM

I agree CW :D

I used to enter the "treasure hunts" done by the IAM with my mum, so I know how to go about doing it :)

Little Miss WRX 15 September 2002 11:50 PM

It will be best to have a passenger if we go ahead with this, so will the fee of £5 be for both? or per person? What would you peeps be happy to do?

CharlieWhiskey 15 September 2002 11:55 PM

Per car would be best, but you need to make it fair to the solo drivers???

Little Miss WRX 16 September 2002 12:05 AM

That is why it would be best to bring a friend.

Anybody with more than one could donate to soloists :D

babydids2002 16 September 2002 10:00 AM

i thinks thats a great idea:D:D
it would be better if you brought a mate :p

CharlieWhiskey 16 September 2002 11:23 AM

ianfergus0n 16 September 2002 11:29 AM

Count me in :D

Little Miss WRX 16 September 2002 11:50 AM

Nice one CW :D am thinking along those lines :)

I am also going to do an Evo one for the Evo lot if they want that option ;)
Got to look into the cost of getting them done, fortunately I know someone..... ;)

chrisp 16 September 2002 12:23 PM

LMW if you need help I have done a few THs in the past. Best to have a couple of stopping points ( I could run one if you want ;) )so if people get lost they can get to a point and start again. Sealed envelope with map and instructions, mobile number of helpful person to next point. If it opened lose 10 points say. Fill in list of questions on the way to make sure you went the right way;). Reset trips to make sure they havent gone off course ;). That way its not a timed event its a mileage thing and not a speed trial.

Also a scavenger list to get as you are going along.

Cold chip
Beer Mat
Lottery ticket
Leg of lamb
etc.

Maybe a set of challenges :D to be done on the way.

I sent a load of people to get the price of a special type of brick in B&Q.

Sounds like a cracking idea and good fun for kids so they dont get bored :D.

cheers

chrisp

Little Miss WRX 16 September 2002 12:25 PM

Chris, thanks for your offer, lets get together sometime and discuss the options :D

chrisp 16 September 2002 12:28 PM

Just thought if poeple have to buy a lottery ticket as a scavenger maybe any wins could given to the charity collection as well.

chrisp 16 September 2002 12:33 PM

Yep no probs we will drag ChrisB as well as he never does anything :D.

Little Miss WRX 16 September 2002 12:33 PM

Sounds a great idea!!! Drop me a mail :)

Consideration to time needs to be given as several will be travelling far.

The pub where the end is has no problems serving food till late :)

Little Miss WRX 16 September 2002 12:34 PM

LOL, poor Chris :D

Must see if robman is up for it too :D

chrisp 16 September 2002 12:41 PM

Yep I will have a think about possible things we could do and places we could take in on the TH and will drop you an email.

MichelleWRX1994 16 September 2002 12:42 PM

Cool, the route is more or less sorted, I have a few places I know I can include on the TH there :)

Rusty Festa 16 September 2002 01:09 PM

This sounds really  - can you post some (understanably) vague details of the route so I know how far I will have to travel down from Lancaster for this please? (ie M6 Junction numbers)
Also, how long will the route be and to whom do I send advanced t-shirt orders :D

Cheers, Jon

CharlieWhiskey 16 September 2002 01:29 PM

By the sound of it the route will now be about 200 miles, take seven hours to complete and you will have to stop to find clues every few miles ;):D:p

The pub where the end is has no problems serving food till late
Is this gonna take all day & night then Michelle?;)

MichelleWRX1994 16 September 2002 01:31 PM

LOL, I will be snipping the route down don't worry ;)

CharlieWhiskey 16 September 2002 02:04 PM

I will do you a couple of shorter options then for leg 2;):D

chrisp 17 September 2002 09:42 AM

For it to work you wont be driving quick so you dont want too many miles as you need to spot things as you are going along. No use in having a route which takes in 50 miles of open roads, fields and hills :(.

CharlieWhiskey 17 September 2002 10:26 AM

Is the treasure hunt going to be a seperate little loop all on it's own? There are plenty of suitable roads around the start/end for it. I pressume that will be the best idea to fit in with your 'WRC format' ;) :D

Mice_Elf 17 September 2002 12:17 PM

Might be  to do this. :D I'll quite happily be a navigator / passenger if anyone needs one being as I don't own a Scoob. :D :D
