Steves using spacers! Only about 3mm though:)

We pretty much worked out he would need between 2-4mm spacers, by using washers.

Theses braces do look :cool: Can't wait to hear how the perform once bedded in:)

the brakes are actually an ALMOST fit .. so the spacing is just to make sure there is a fag packet's space spoke->caliper. (there's actually a couple on mm space now)

will measure the actual thickness .. think it's 2mm.. mayb 2.5m but not alot really.

I spoke to several people before i did it & people like TSL say they have done it loads of times as there is often no otherway.

car doesnt seem to handle any differnt, although I'm taking it REALLY easy at the mo to bed them in properly .. the longer you bed them in - the better they'll be ! :D

but Dyney's right .. they do look very very :cool: !!

Rear calipers are now gold to match!

as for bedding them in, once "smooth" you do want to slowly heat them till they are really quite hot, and then let the cool gently.

Pavlo - yep .. some nice dual carrage ways on my usual trip - and there is a round-a-bout at the end, so they will get a nice national speedlimit down to not-a-lot ( in as many yards!! )a few times ...

My brakes need replacing some time in the next few weeks I should think, so I am looking at a kit, or just some 2 pot discs and pads to tide me over till next year.

I would be interested to see how you get on. I was put off the wilwood finally by the lack of dust seals, and reports of the stainless pistons rusting.

So the hispec stuff looks to be the most affordable alternative, but I want something to fit under 16" wheels, and good enough to stop my lardy car on the track.

I'm in the same boat as you, I narrowed it down to 2 choices given the amount I want to spend - either the Godspeed 308mm 4pots or the HiSpec 310mm monster4. I'm assumming the latter fit under 16" and I haven't made my mind up yet :)

The hispec kit should fit, I think they even do something that uses a 325 disc and slim calipers (no seals) that fits under the 16" wheel.

I have even considered the 300/28 kit, as the price drops considerably, only £500 inc vat, but I definitely am going on track next year, maybe sooner, so whatever I get they must be up to the job.

Possibly a 310/32 disc may help, dunno what HiSpec do in terms of custom stuff these days (they used to do plenty)

reason I wasnt pushing on & being so careful was that I'd only done about 200 miles .. & brake pedal feel wasnt too wonderful.

infact - wasnt very happy - as i was hoping for a bit less travel than that - it was almost half way down at times :(

anyway - found that if you braked, then braked again pedal would be up high & firm (as it should be!). so decided they needed a bleed.

did that tonight - in almost darkness! :( and loads of red stuff came out the front - so guessing that was brake grease used on the seals during assembly !?!? - gona phone them tmrw to check this out!

anyway - they are rock solid & braking is now zillions better ! :D:D:D:D:D breathe on the middle pedal and things seem to accelerated away from you at an amazing rate ! :) (not used them in anything like anger yet either!)

Ok .. they're now doing it again ... sometimes pedal goes down alot, next press they're back to the top & rock solid !

not having fun now... as they're beded in & had a few nice heat cycles into them , but pressing the pedal and finding nothing for half the travel 'aint fun !! :(

bleeding is best done with 4 (yes four) people if you don't have the correct tools, one on the pedel, one on the master cylinder, and one each on 2 diagonally apposed brakes. As you need to bleed front and back together, and the are linked diagonally.

Best way is to bleed both ways, down (normal) then up (connect pressurised fluid containers to the calipers) to force air in the pipe system up to the master cylinder.

I think I'm just going to get a kwik-fit place to do it, or travel to Hispec or whatever.

well i DID go to Hi-Spec (gona ring them tmrw) but I thought the front & back are seperate circuits - not diagonal ?

I know bleeding can be a pain, coz you need to presurise the system (usually pumping) & i did get some red gunk out, which is stuff used in making / assembly.. so am thinking that there might be some more I didnt push out (it was dark!!)

anyway .. need to see what Hi-Spec say, as at the mo, when the pedals up - they are good - but when the pedal dissapears , it's terrifying! so I aint pushing them AT-ALL at the mo .. not even done a proper stop .. just incase!

Maybe its a really stupid question... Why do the people making the kits, not make them in such a way that spacers are not required. Surely there is plenty of room to move the caliper and disc inwards to allow for virtually any wheel. Spacers just seem like a very rough fix that should not be necessary. I remember a post form someone ages ago about the Movit brakes, and that he needed somehting crazy like 20mm spacer to get a wheel on. WTF ?? Thats dangerous.
What is the problem with the suppliers of the kits that they cant make them fit without spacers??? ( dont give me the all wheels are different sh1t, as that could be allowed for when designing it. )

What was the cost of these please if yuo dont mind me asking as their internet site has the wrong prices on for the Monster Billet 4!!!

Stevie, the problem I beleive can stem from not being able to move the disc inboard enough due to the steering arm on the hub. But with 28mm discs I wouldn't have thought it a problem.

Yeah Pavlo, Hi Spec, it may well be a good product but I'm not impressed with them as a company if they can't even get their pricing right and honour it !!! All I got was an apology. THANKS HI-SPEC.

humm.. I thought the pricing WAS correct ! it was 840 for the kit, which was disks&caplipers. that is +VAT .. so with pads & braided lines it works out about £1100...

coz I was looking at the website when i was on the phone asking /& ordering mine!

As for spacers .. it's just the wheel I have. for some stupid reason, Prodrive put the SpeedLine's on which have a VERY straight spoke .. so it hits. nearly any other 17" wheel WILL fit!

as for the Movits, that was MARKUS. and yep, he had to space it LOADS & have wheel bolts extended etc etc.... but then they are off a Porchse or something .. so not really designed to fit!

Pavlo is right .. its the steering arm that gets in the way. as it is with this size disk, you have to take the stonegard/backing plate off.

ahh... well the other one for 335/32 4's are correct.

the same should apply as to a shop - if it's on the shelf marked up as that .. then they have to sell them for that.
remember all the stuff about those cameras mis-priced on line - they HAD to sell them for that !!!

The seller decides whether or not to sell at that price, then takes your payment, thereby entering the contract of sale. If they agree to the price and take your money, then the deal is done, and they can't up the price.
