Have been considering HID for my Morette equipped uk99, I see that Scoobysport now stock a fitting for the H4 dipped....has anyone tried this?

Does anyone know if these work in the 'classic' Morette?

Cheers. :)

Chris L 15 August 2002 12:28 PM

I use Scoobysport's HID conversion on my MY01 with Morrette's. Not sure of all the details, but I'd give 'em a ring and check. I reckon you might be OK.

How much are they, Regal do a kit for various headlight types, at under £500 complete. Never went for them yet tho. £500 is a lot for a couple of bulbs. Just havent convinced myself I need them

Moles Dad 19 August 2002 10:09 PM

Yes it is the Scoobysport kit I was thinking of, I have mailed Pete and he tells me things do fit and they work very well :)

Stevie, they are about £420 for the pair  I think I NEED them as I cant see much at night with halogens!!!

(im ok with main beam but other people get the hump).

TBMeech 27 August 2002 01:09 PM

MD,

Did you get some?

I find the Morettes on dips not that good especially coming from the Mains with the ol driving lamps as well :)

alcazar 30 August 2002 10:33 PM

MD: post if you get 'em and when they're up and running please, as I've got the HID driving lights, and if I win the Lotto, I'd love to uprate the main AND the dip in my Morettes.

Moles Dad 31 August 2002 12:59 PM

Wow, I need to check this forum a bit more often :)

I havnt got them yet, not in stock...had to order :(

I also find dip on Morettes a bit scarey when coming off main beam (pretty good), It takes me a while to retune to the light levels...but then I am getting old :D

Will post up when the job is done and (I hope) let you all know how good they are!!!

TB, you sorted out now re having to sell?

TBMeech 03 September 2002 01:27 PM

MD,

Not sure work is a little dodge at the moment, am trying to hold off selling as long as I can until we know for deffo what is happening, I would be totally gutted if I sold now, spent so much turning the car into something I wanted it to be, plus its running like a dream at the mo.

Let me know how you get on with the hid upgrades, like to have a look at some stage, like you I also hate dropping from mains to dips even with morettes its not enough.

come up to the surrey meet on sunday be nice to see you :)

Adam M 03 September 2002 04:24 PM

am waiting for my car to get abck on road so i can fit my dual beam H4 HIDs.

I bought the beloffs, as I couldnt bring myself to put morettes on the 22B.

Moles Dad 03 September 2002 06:53 PM

TB, I really hope it goes 'your way'...what do you do for a job ?

Will come to Surrey one day, where is it ?

Adam, I agree, its ok putting Morettes on old uk but not a 22B!!!

I'll let you know how we get on!

PS. I know where Surrey is...where is the meet? :)

NINJA 03 September 2002 07:03 PM

where can u get dual beam h.i.d. for classic shape..thought u could only have main or dipped beam

TBMeech 04 September 2002 10:34 AM

MD,

Work in IT, am a software tester.

If you look here:

http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=123926

directions to the meet are there, if you are coming up we could meet up at Godstone and go up together if you like? :)

Adam M 04 September 2002 11:13 AM

Ninja,

there are two companies who make dual beam H4s for the classic shape but they afrent cheap at around £700.

They are beloff and target. Imported by the same company called C.A.Automotive.

Hope this helps!

Moles Dad 04 September 2002 07:31 PM

TB, Does that mean you play computer games all day ??? :D

I'm sure you will be ok, there MUST be a requirement for your skills within another company if it becomes necessary!!!

Dont forget, it always looks grim when we are forced to make a move...human nature says that we dont like 'change' so it always seems worse than it is.

Sorry if I'm going on...goes with getting old(er) :)

Could we meet at the garage that we did the exhaust deal in ?

If so time???

Regards, Andy....might be easier if you mail me, whatever :)

Best o luck!

NINJA 05 September 2002 09:23 AM

TBMeech 05 September 2002 09:28 AM

Hope so mate, am sure it will work itself out in the end, just looks a little dodgy at the moment, we can discuss on Sunday!

Yep, that sounds fine with me, shall we say 11am? That would get us up there for about 1140 for a cup of tea :) - You still got my number?

Ninja,

The number you are looking for is on the link that Adam put up for you!

Moles Dad 05 September 2002 08:30 PM

TB, I hope so too.

Very sorry but I dont have your mob, I changed my mob and backed up via 'logo manager'...all clever so far, then Moles hard drive fing crashed and we lost loads of stuff...even all our 'toons' :(

Moles Dad 18 September 2002 08:03 PM

I have it on good authority that the H4 HIDs are now in the UK :)

Waiting for the 'call' :)

Huxley 18 September 2002 09:27 PM

What about these? :)

Normal HID are about 4000 to 6000k light output but look at the ones i have found on this site:eek:

8000k HID H4 kit for £290.00 methinks i will be getting a set, ill have to talk nicely to Huxley chick;)

Huxley

Moles Dad 19 September 2002 07:04 PM

H, thanks for that :)

Moles Dad 01 October 2002 07:15 PM

Well they are now fitted on the car :D

Pete Croney even brought them over to me this morning....what a service eh?

Very easy to fit....

Just going out now to blind everyone and/or adjust as necessary :)

Pics at week-end.

P20SPD 01 October 2002 08:10 PM

MD i am very interested it what the difference is over the standard morrettes. please let me know. Could you mail me about it as well.

steven

Moles Dad 01 October 2002 10:22 PM

P20, I cant comment at the moment cos I'm fuming :(

Cant get the adjustment on the Morettes right FCUKING SH1T lights.

The HID is the nuts, sooooo bright ;)

Just need a couple of months to get it right!

Let you know and mail you when I'm less wound up.

P20SPD 01 October 2002 10:39 PM

ta

hades 02 October 2002 07:15 PM

Certainly very bright, and very white light. But from my brief view of them, the biggest difference is that you dazzle passing airbusses, boeing 737s, etc... ;) :D

MD - got em pointing in the right direction yet? Don't let em wind you up, chill with the vodka. :)

Moles Dad 02 October 2002 09:16 PM

:D lol :D Hades

Yeah, they are getting better, ended up 'letting off' all the adjusters so the lenses were almost flat to the plastic housing, then went out in the dark...not too bad but a wee bit low.

Spent a bit of time up the lane and brought them up a bit...now they 'blind' the oncoming cars very slightly at the very last second that they pass the car.

It would seem that there is a spurious light 'bar' on each side of each lamp, cant understand at present why that is...got 'cheesed off' again and came home, more tomorrow I spose :)

But to let you know Steven, they are very bright, yellow and blue and white depending where you look (angle), I will let you know the full sp when they are finally done ;)
