We all know scoob's haven't got the best paint finish in the world but are there any colour's less prone to bleedin stone chips?
Mine's solid red and the paint finish is S*#T to say the least, make's me so http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif Just as well i love everything else about it. CHEERS SCD Simon |
our old my95 was ilver and no probs. my00 red mica we had started showing chips after 6 months, silver sti 5 i just bought has no problems.
silver the best colour then? possibly http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif just glad i never bought dark blue mica http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif |
Silver is roughly the same colour as primer, so the stone chips don't show http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
However, the people who open their car doors into you have never got silver cars, so you always end up with dark paint scrapes down the sides http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif |
yer cant win http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
IMHO buy the colour you like, worry about stone chips later, which in the case of DBM, seems to be a week http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif |
That's right, from prior experience I can
say that silver as well as white stand up to daily stone bombardment , white being a solid colour (non metallic) is a bit easier to touch up . I have also heard that red scooby's can be prone to colour fading of the non metal painted parts ,but I guess that would happen more often in a hot and sunny climate like what we have around here. IMHO go with white |
I've had no problems with stone chips on my RB5. Then again I did have the paint protected from new by my dealer (FOC http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif) - best finish I've had on a car. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

DBM, Sonic Blue, WR Blue, had all and all look kak after a couple of thousand miles..
Bugzilla is going in for a respray, shes needs her bonnet, front bumper, front side panels and front doors sprayed... after only 4.5K miles http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif But they are particularly great cars to drive. |
My MY97 is not sonic blue, it is referred to as red/blue (has like a purple tint in it?) After 35K there is not a scratch on it or a stone chip to be seen (tempting Fate) - will post pics when my digi cam is returned!! . Does anyone know what colour this is called? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
