Not normal at all. fuel cut shoud be at approx 1.3 bar.

my uk300 @ 1.4 and holds there...no fuel cut....just keeps going

JDM STI's have no fuel cut.

kungfu 24 July 2002 04:26 PM

i was having the 'hitting wall' effect...overboost??
would this be anything to do with her boosting so high..i have cleaned the solenoid out etc....

ustolemyname??stevieturbo 24 July 2002 05:31 PM

that brick wall, is the boost cut, which is set in the std ecu, for safety reasons. Too much boost will cause nasty things to happen to your engine. Some people learn the hard way, others spend money wisely tuning theirs to run safely with more boost etc.

kungfu 24 July 2002 06:13 PM

so what do you recommend i should do then ?

Hol 24 July 2002 09:06 PM

Not got a modified ECU has it?

My identical car only runs 1.4bar and thats with the mapped Link ECU. No overboost just straight to 1.4 and holds it.

Im wondering if the car has had work done to it. Do you have any paperwork from before when it was imported?

ustolemyname??stevieturbo 24 July 2002 11:29 PM

I think you should find out why it is overboosting first. Check all hoses to/from turbocharger/wastegate/wastegate solenoid. Has this only started happening recently?? Has any work been done recently?? Once you know why its doing it, then somehting can be done about it.

Easiest way to check if the car has an after market ecu or picggy-back system is to unscrew the passeenger footwell. Have a look to see if the ecu has any stickers ie HKS, APexi etc! There may even be a second box which would make it the piggy back system.
Good luck!

all the pipes have been checked...2/3 times, which pisses me off.
the only mods i have done is a 3" stainless pipe with a 5" back box, dumpvalve and apexi boost guage.
i have cleaned the solenoid and all pipes connecting it 5/6 times with brake cleaner...so it is clean enough, the oil level is between the full and empty mark, i am also running a vf28 turbo, as opposed to the vf23.
what do you think fellas ??

Bob Rawle 25 July 2002 07:39 PM

Sti4 should be fitted with a VF24 turbo.

kungfu 25 July 2002 08:34 PM

sorry, i couldn't remember if it was 23/24.... but i was getting a 28 for the right money so we fitted it on, not as sharp low down, but it cuts in at just over 3ooorpm with more authority... could this be the problem
