It is quite amazing - the same fuel map on cars with almost identical mods and working seemingly working lambda sensors can read extraordinarily different.

They are OK for checking ballpark mixtures, but I have lost a lot of confidence in them for mapping, so I just stay conservative with the fuelling. But the occasional sensor takes the pi$$ and makes life very difficult.

Try to tell a customer you are mapping "conservatively" when the lambda sensor suggests 1% CO on full load :rolleyes: One poor chap I kept sending away and the third lambda sensor read readings that were more sensible, but sensors that tell lies are a nightmare.

Sadly a rolling road gas probe will arguably not be much more representative because of the different airflows on the rolling road, although at least it would be consistent.

According to the website (dawesdevices.com)

"From 1.0 volts up, the blue light illuminates, indicating that you are very rich, and may want to consider lowering fuel delivery or raising boost for more power"

who then, on fitting an afr & getting the blue light has wound the boost up??

im currently running 18psi fully decat but am a bit doubtfull as to whether to trust it entirely!

if you bought the afr through jamie then it will be recalibrated and the blue light is not 1v +. If you dont trust it then simply measue the voltage signal yourself with a voltmeter.

Did you get the WRX one ?? They have different set points for the LED's. Check Jamie's web site under WRX somewhere and you will get the modified settings (takes a bit of finding )

Andy - You could try looking under the sections:

Dawes>AFR>WRX ;)

Dodge - rest assured you did indeed get the WRX calibrated AFR.

Depends on the installer. If it was john banks, 100%. If on the other hand it was me or any other people from the muppet forum, 50%. :D :D

so would no-one be confident in raising there boost when getting blue light??

Getting the fuelling right is one thing, predicting material tollerences is another. You don't need detonation to ruin an engine. Making it work much harder than what the material can take can also screw your engine up..
