New WRX owner,,centre diff and gearbox bearings??
Hi guys I'm the new owner of a late 06 plate blob, great car in all ways, but I've noticed a slight whine at around 60 mph, had it to dealer who said it was centre diff and gearbox bearings, now I'm panicking it's gonna fall to bits,do these parts come on here much second hand as I've noticed centre diffs are £££, someone reassure me lol.

Hi Neil
Welcome to the forum! Sounds like the rear diff. to me. I thought there was an issue with my car at first, but found out through some other threads that it's quite common. Does the sound go away when you lift off the throttle? Is the sound present at any other time? Rik |

Don't ask a dealer, ask a recommended independent specialist. It's pretty normal to hear some drive train whine, but an independent will double check that it's nothing to worry about. Or post a sound clip up here.

Will do, it's probably too hard to hear for a sound clip due to the extremely loud exhaust lol, I'm off to teg in carnforth in June I'll get them to have a listen.cheers guys
