which garage to buy from

Not been on for a while now as i havent got a scooby anymore but my son is buying one and was just wondering if there are any garages to avoid and also any recommendations as when i was in the scooby scene hurst cars and jct cars where classed as decent garages . He has seen one at ribble valley sports and prestige at accrington , has anybody bought from them and are they a decent garage to deal with . cheers steve

Personally I would only consider private sales with enthusiast owned vehicles with fsh and all paperwork. Hurst are still recommended by many; I had a wasted journey there to find the car wasn't as described and dear for what it was. Cheshire performance is the one to avoid.

I agree with the above and had a similar situation not so long ago

I’m only round the corner from them come and take a look after you see what they have :thumb:

i agree, private sale from a true enthusiast and a folder full of paperwork from specialists would be my choice. these so called performance garages that pop up only buy their stock from joe bloggs then put massive mark ups on them. there was one that bought evo's all the time and the business name kept changing (cant remember what it was called now). god forbid you ever bought from them and then the car developed a problem........

ones to avoid from memory are

cheshire performance
motohub (was called keighly at some point)
also heard bad things from sva imports

What issues with sva imports please ? they have a nice looking fsti

Cambs_Stuart 09 February 2019 05:58 PM

Torque GT are a decent importer. As with Hurst, they are looking to make a profit.

all garages have issue, lately everyone is blowing smoke up scooby clinics arse, the pot hole incident was handled poorly by them and never resolved properly.
shows the respect their mechanics have for cars when nobody is looking.
