Ive been looking at this EBay add and it looks decent but I can’t work out if it’s sitting too high at the front plus is the front mount not sitting straight or is it the front bumper??

whats everyone’s view on the car and is it worth the money?

BrownPantsRacing 13 December 2018 12:21 PM

Yeh, I saw this. Looks nice.

Looks like front mount not straight to me.

I think that's a different car you saw. There are 2 of these currently up for sale, the one in the link above which is relatively standard with a funny fitting FMIC and Banny's old car.

Banny built a lovely white type R a few years ago with single scroll setup, 2.35 engine, the works running circa 600bhp in the end. He built it as a tribute to Simon as they had discussed the project before Simon died. Banny eventually sold the car for a fraction of what it cost to build. Someone got the car and bolted a wide arch kit to it and sprayed the car WRB in their own back garden. It's a terrible job. Mechanically great car, bodykit and re-spray done incredibly un-sympathetically.

They totally screwed it up. Was such a lovely car when Banny had it.

Banny's thread.

so you agree that the intercooler is sitting funny and it’s not the bumper that’s wonky? I need to go and view it really to see how well it’s been put together, What do you reckon it’s worth as I was thinking 10-11k.

Yes to me it looks like the intercooler is wonky. But quite honestly don't know how you'd fit it wonky. Most bolt to a support bar that picks up on the front panel and bolt on dead straight and true to the chassis every time. Would have been more difficult to fit it wonky. Unless it really is the bumper fitted badly, but it's quite a way off. If you go look at it just take lots of measurements and have a really good look around the front of the car to make sure nothing is bent. Could well have been built from a crashed car.

It does look good though that said. Love the look and the wheels. Depends on the history of the car and condition of the chassis. Check for rust in the usual places. The kit could be hiding all sorts.

I'd say up to £10k max if it were me.

Turbovin 14 December 2018 12:54 PM

The bumper support bar on a classic is really thin and is easily bent if you tighten the intercooler too hard. I actually replaced mine because of that. It never was as bad as in this picture but it made the whole bumper fit like crap. One of the lower brackets between the chassis and the intercooler could be more bent than the other perhaps. It could also be the piping rubbing against the body on one side pushing the intercooler down on that side.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the kit isn’t the greatest fit as when you look at the photo of the front alloy you can see that the wheel sits further away from the arch and front bumper and will make the car look odd. So glad I am obsessive over things like this as I’ve just saved myself 11hr round trip!

Turbovin 14 December 2018 06:24 PM

I think the fit around the rear lights is quite bad with many of those kits.

stevie1982 14 December 2018 07:04 PM

The kit fitment from the pictures doesn't look great, for one the the rear wheels look lost in the arches and the spacing on the front wheels is way out. It may be better in the flesh so if its not to far go and have a look.

L.J.F 14 December 2018 09:00 PM

Ive received more photos from the owner and it’s definitely a misjudged measurement issue, I certainly won’t be making a 10-11hr round trip to confirm it!

The Trooper 1815 15 December 2018 10:26 PM

The car in the ad is still registered as white - R261UDD.

L.J.F 17 December 2018 02:49 PM

The auction ended at 10.7k but I bet the the person who won the bid hasn’t been to view it first!
