Widetrack Sti - What’s suspension has everyone got?

What widetrack suspension setup is everyone running, and what do you think of it? I have a budget of £1000 to replace mine and looking for ideas.

If your shocks are okay and don't have the rear shock knock. Then to improve the handling, get a set of Eibach springs (prodrive ones) and new bump stops off 2pot on these forums then get the front and rear anti roll bar kits and you would see a notable improvement.

I’m replacing as my rear shocks are knocking. The car will only be used on road.

I like Koni inserts. The front inserts for non-inverted housings, are are tricky to install in '05-07 STI 114.3 pcd inverted housings. But, it can be done:

Popped-in to Bilstein, a few days ago, to discuss Impreza inverted/non-inverted/twin-tube struts/inserts.

I run BC ZR which is the top of the range. Bit out of your budget but boy do they feel like it! I had ER before which were the original top units but these are inverted with remote compression adjusters H and L. The Rebound is under the car and a pain to get to. I've considered the extenders for the rebound, but the best option is to remove the actual knobs and just use an allen key.

They run far stiffer springs but feel so controlled and damped I wouldn't go back. It's essential to run them in neoprene socks though. Short warranty and easy to get crap in the inverted design.

The ER lasted 35,00 miles and 5 years. before the first one started sucking and lost damping.

What’s people’s opinions on these.

They look like a copy of the BC-Racing BR series. Probably made in the same factory by the same people. The damping claims are just the "plush" option BC offer too. If you get the BC own brand version, they're about the same price, but you can order them +40 or +60mm in length so you don't have to run low and knacker up the roll centres.

U says they were monotube which they both are ?

You says the were a better design so assumed you could tell us why ?

Not testing, just curious

I’ve enquired with MeisterR regarding the difference between the CRD and CRD+. Been told the following:

There is no CRD+ anymore we are streamlining the names to stop the confusion. It was that one had front rubber bush top mounts and the other pillowball/rose joint front top mount.

So for the Subaru you have the choice of the ZetaCRD or GT1.

Both have pillowbal front top mount and rubber incased steel top mount on the rear.
With camber adjustment top mount on the front.

Monotube dampers with 32 levels of adjustment and dual perch coilover system.

Been told they’ll be in stock of the CRD’s early November if anyone is interested.

For the road, there are great/poor twintubes, monotubes and inverted monotubes - depends on the resolution of the design. Don't know why you'd specify solid top mounts on a road car.

2pot - a few questions re.your set up if you don’t mind.
Are you using standard (honed) widetrack casings or WRX rears as suggested on the US sites?
Are you using 8610 1351 fronts and 8610 1440 rear inserts (or something else) and if so how difficult was it to adapt the casings?
i’m swaying between konis or getting some Feal FPS from across the water which would cost more but would be a straight swap compared to the Koni option.

Thanks,

Adam

1351 in widetrack sti fronts and 1440 in wrx rears. I've got some sets made-up, to go with the wa/a2 springs.

https://www.scoobynet.com/suspension...i-inserts.html

I've approached Bilstein, because of the widetrack Koni insert problem - it's being investigated.

Thanks for your clarification Mark.

If you have a set made up for sale with your springs, can you pm me the price please.

Adam

Think that I may go for MeisterR coilovers as feedback on various sites seems good. Does anyone know the differences between ZetaCRD and GT1’s, and does the difference between them justify the £1000 difference in price?
