No mate looks like it's all in,no hidden extras and I've heared some of the mappers say you get great support.

Although just reading this bit again makes me wonder now:
EVERY PURCHASE OF AN ECU COMES WITH A 20% VOUCHER FOR YOUR CONNECTOR & WIRE ORDER ! |
Well spotted Rig
Looks like tuning usb cable is a separate purchase, wonder if software is free? :wonder: |

Note: This Tuning Cable is included when you buy any Link G4 / G4+ ECU. And you can download the latest software. Don't even begin comparing this to Alcatek or other "locked" ecus |

Hi guys, finally got round to taking the carpet up and checking the ecu. its a z4 ecu, am I right in saying it's a 4 pin ecu? And could anyone tell me if it looks like a standard one or if it looks like it's been chipped? Also its only running 0.6 bar of boost on full throttle, could this be vac lines plumbed in wrong? Thank you!https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...0d6d7713f6.jpghttps://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...fe5380187b.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...4789d3ce54.jpg |
Yes it's a 4 plug ecu.
Looks standard no extra chip. Check all pipes are plumbed in correct and boost pill is still in place. |
Just 're read your 1st post, loads of un-mapped mods won't do you any favours.
|
0.6 bar is pure actuator pressure
check boost solenoid is actually plumbed in and as you say, check vac lines are all going to the right places, ie the actuator isnt being fed directly from the turbo outlet nipple |
Does sound like a vac leak. My old import had a z4 with mods ran fine for ages til the head went, got 280bhp out of it.
Then i got another engine and got it mapped properly on a rolling road. |

Would it overboost and put the car into limp/limit boost? |
Yeah standard 3 port.
It would cause boost cut but you would hit full boost 1st, it wouldnt leave it in any "limp" mode, just get full boost, whallop against the windscreen then repeat lol |
Overboost and running lean would equal detonation, would this put the car into limp/limit boost?
|
Nah, early impreza`s dont have limp mode like modern cars ,(unless speedo is broken lol ) only time the engine is restricted is if an actual sensor goes and the check engine light illuminates etc
|
An ECU reset may help tho, if a sensor had triggered a fault briefly, The free fixes are always worth a punt 1st ha
|
Checked the vac lines and there was a restrictor pill in the vac pipe so I replaced the vac line and it now boosts at 0.8bar, is that about right for a standard ecu? |
With 3 port bcs bottom hose is the only one with restrictor pill. If missing it will overboost. The top hose to compressor housing middle hose to actuator bottom returned to intake but optional.

I got a hks mushroom filter and bailiys dump valve to my old impreza, car wasn't impressed, limited the boost to wg pressure until I removed and reset, maybe not 'limp' mode as known in a modern car but I took it as the ecu limiting the boost and pulling the timing as a 'don't blow the engine' mode.
Z4 ecu should see 1.1bar afaik. UK car is 0.8bar |

|
Z4 ecu see's 0.9 bar as standard
|
Could be a dry joint in a wire, or one of the pins in the male or female electrical connectors for the BCS...
