Is this ok for gaming
Hi my kid is after a pc to play call of duty on is this any good

On a casual glance Processor looks a bit weedy for a desktop http://m.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cp....30GHz&id=2634
Put it this way, the mobile cpu in my 2yr old ultra book gets a faster result (and that's a cut-down power-saving CPU). Even my aincient q9550 just about beats it and that's almost 9 years old!! http://m.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cp....83GHz&id=1049 Not a clue on the graphics. Would possibly push for 16gb ram (can never have too much) And maybe SSD as a boot drive. |
1030 :o
very poor spec, doubt it will play many games at full graphics settings even now. Need to add a 1 in front of the price to get a reasonable spec gaming pc. To put it into context I've just spent £700 on a graphics card alone. |
You need something with a bit more go in it.

yeah I went auros xtreme in the end for the extra cooling, quite a step up from my gtx980 and that was only struggling on odd games (arma3 is pretty good running 3k view range and max settings haha).

https://www.dinopc.com/gaming-pcs/ne...-light-gt-1030 For playing at 1080p this is a decent system for the money. http://www.ebuyer.com/770258-cyberpo...ng-pc-ecc01785 Just add a 256gig ssd for the operating system and another 8gig of ram and he'll probably never need to replace it unless moving up to 4K screens. |
Thanks guys

Funnily I went from a 980gtx to exactly the same 1080Ti card as you ;) well worth the move up, did a Haven check before and after, pretty much doubled my score :o
When i went looking it seemed to be the cooling was the most important thing, so had to be tripple fan, the two i had my eye on were out of stock and amazon had that one on offer so thought sod it :lol1::lol1: i havn't benched my machine recently, put an m.2 in it as well and that makes a huge difference even over a decent ssd, well worth the £120 for it. |
Why not just by a ps4. The pro is awsome on a 4k tv
