Bodywork recommmendation

Folks,

Just got my Hawk back from a local bodyshop, Dentscratch in Aldershot. I thought I'd give them a good thumbs up on Scoobynet. They repaired my rear bumper (I had an unexpected argument with a bollard) and resprayed both bumpers for 500 quid. Came up beautifully. They even threw in a runaround car whilst mine was worked on. Top people. The fact that when I arrived they had a bentley and roller in there speaks volumes for their quality. Well recommended if you live in the area.

was that front and rear I take it? need mine doing

jaygsi 06 July 2017 05:21 PM

I need my arches doing. But getting insane quotes. Pictures of before and after may help.

David__H 06 July 2017 06:08 PM

Yeah, front and rear bumpers done. Looked mint, although they have dead flies on them now.:D

jaygsi 07 July 2017 08:34 AM

I got half a bumper done some years back just over £100.

Fair enough if they've done a good job, but £500 just for both bumpers doesn't sound like a bargain price, I'd certainly expect an immaculate job (and a courtesy car thrown in) for that price.

I need mine done too but can't get repair panels for Newage so God knows what I'll get charged. Thinking it might be cheaper to try and find a newer rust free model and swap all the mechanicals over. It's going to be expensive/hassle either way!

So are new age arches starting to go in just the same way as classic rear arches have then?

Subaru really don't tend to put right known issues do they, repeat problems throughout the same models timeline.

TECHNOPUG 07 July 2017 10:47 AM

Same issue AFAIK. Driver's side rear the worst - same as Classic's I presume? Mine is a 2002 UK car. Passenger side rear has a little bubbling but driver's side has rotted from about 2 o'clock all the way down to the sill. Fronts appear completely uneffected.

Sure someone would make a tidy sum if they could produce rear quarter repair panels for Newages.

Sure I've seen these knocking about.

Don't forget they had to repair the damaged rear bumper too.

Most places would charge £150-£200 just for spraying each bumper, also depends where you live some area's than others.

^^^ what he said.

I have the same problem too, except on a 2001 wagon.

My main dealer tells me that my rear inner arches are starting to go and bubbling has just started to show on both rear outer wheel arches.

It's a real shame as I've just had everything else totally sorted making the car a superb B-road Porsche botherer.

Anybody know a really good bodyshop in South/Mid-Wales?

Isn't Ryan aka Prodriverules near you over the border, Cannon Fodder or Trooper should be able to help you with his location, I know there was the scandal involving his dads place, but he's set up on his own... And there's no denying the quality of "HIS" work... I'd still use him if I were out that way.

SouthWalesSam 12 July 2017 03:09 PM

Thanks, I'll look him up.

Had my front bumper done for 150, rear needs doing soon (looks like it kissed a wall in Japan and the weather here has made it worse) which I was quoted 150 for also at BM autobodies Bury, Lancashire
