Haven't received dyno graph yet

Just had my car mapped but I'm yet to receive my graph from the road mapping session I had with him. I'm not gonna name names because he's a nice guy and is good at what he does, I not only wanna see it for what my car achieved but also for insurance purposes. Like I said he's good at what he does, he was mapping for a good 3 and a half hours and asked me to test drive it at the end to see what it was like and He done a superb job.

ossett2k2 07 June 2017 02:38 PM

How long you been waiting?
Are road map dyno graphs pretty accurate?

Matty81 07 June 2017 02:43 PM

Just over a week mate. That's the thing, it's improved my car massively but I haven't seen a map to see what it's achieved in terms of bhp or toque. I also want it also because the insurance company wants to know what power it's running at to add it to my policy.

JDM_Stig 07 June 2017 02:45 PM

have you rang mapper and asked ?

Matty81 07 June 2017 02:47 PM

to be fair to him, he doesn't have internet, he sends everything via email.

ossett2k2 07 June 2017 02:53 PM

No wifi
Where's the garage? Bedrock county :lol1:

In all seriousness tho mate,a week ain't too bad really.
Give him another day then NAME AND SHAME (joking !!)

Matty81 07 June 2017 03:12 PM

Hahaha have you waited longer then ?. It's frustrating though, after a good map you wanna know the results!

Matty81 07 June 2017 03:12 PM

Probably the cost of setting it up is probably why he don't have wifi

I don't have to wait map my own.
Be interesting to see/know how accurate a dyno graph is by just using data logs rather than the rollers.
Will he send you the log files too or just a graph?

Understandable you'll be itching to see a graph and some numbers :thumb:

Matty81 07 June 2017 03:43 PM

Bloody hell your good mate :thumb:. How do you do it yourself ? He had wires coming out from everywhere when he mapped mine lol. He told me that they're would be a graph. He said between 290/300 and I'm really interested to see the torque it made aswell because it pulls a lot better.

Matty81 07 June 2017 03:45 PM

Maybe that's why it's taking him a little while to send over a graph, I'm assuming it's a different concept to rollers then when road mapping and wanting a dyno graph for the results.

JDM_Stig 07 June 2017 04:00 PM

isnt there a rolling road near you that you could pop along to and get a health check/power run on? its only £50 near me. it would also be interesting to see if the graphs match.

The Rig 07 June 2017 04:03 PM

He himself wont produce a graph as such, all you do is put the log file generated at the time of mapping into software to generate a rough bhp graph, i suspect he didnt save or keep the log file and doesnt have the data to now input into said software. Hopefully im wrong lol

ossett2k2 07 June 2017 04:12 PM

I would of thought any mapper worth his salt would keep all data log files, they don't take up much room on the laptop and surely would come in handy for any future mapping sessions with repeat customers.

ossett2k2 07 June 2017 04:13 PM

Have you used any of the dyno software @The Rig?

Matty81 07 June 2017 04:14 PM

There is but it's Surrey rolling road and that dunc guy uses it.

Matty81 07 June 2017 04:21 PM

He did say that he had a few maps on his laptop that he had used from previous mapping sessions that he uses when mapping new customers cars and tweaks then to suit cars.

Only map my own as had a bad experience with a pro map, plus it's pretty interesting to get into :)
The wires will have been a wideband AFR a knock detector and some det cans which he will wear(headphones) to listed for knock.

Unfortunately as The Rig says its just software generated dyno so it is possible to throw any log file in for a graph.
As JDM_Stig says A proper dyno run on the rollers would be nice

Matty81 07 June 2017 04:32 PM

That's right! I was watching him plug it all in.

Like I said though, he's done a good job on it and I'm happy with what he's done and would use him again. Maybe I need to get on a dyno then.

If you're happy and the car drives well then that's all that counts really.
You said he spent a good amount of time on it which is good, and you will get an idea of numbers from the dyno software,if he's a decent honest chap then I see no reason he won't use your data to create a virtual dyno graph for you :thumb:

If you want to spend another £50 or so for a rolling road graph then that's cool.
I do intend to take mine on the rollers at some point.

Matty81 07 June 2017 04:49 PM

He spent a good 3 and a half hours out on the road mapping it, thought he got lost at one point lol.

Yeah he's a good guy, always honest with what he does. Maybe I'm being to impatient!.

Duncan only maps there.

Charlie (the owner) does the power runs.

Uncle Creepy 07 June 2017 05:55 PM

If he spent a good amount of time on the map and you're happy with his work, aren't you overreacting a bit here, fella? Failing to promptly send out some paperwork surely doesn't warrant being named and shamed on a public forum.

I'm sure he'll send it out. He might have more pressing matters. Or maybe it's in the post. As long as the car's running fine, just be patient, dude!

RAGGY DOO 07 June 2017 06:06 PM

I didn't get my graph sent for months
But to be fair i asked what it made I looked on the lap top it was good enough for me
Did he not tell you what it made matty?

Matty81 07 June 2017 07:40 PM

I haven't named and shamed anyone and said I won't.

Matty81 07 June 2017 07:42 PM

Na raggy he didn't actually and to be honest I didn't ask because It had been a long day all round. Got there at 9 and didn't leave until 330 mate.

Matty81 07 June 2017 07:43 PM

I've heard mixed reports about dunc from people on here. Never used him so can't really say either way don.

Your original post suggested that the fact "Dunc" uses Surrey Rolling Road for mapping was a bad thing for Surrey Rolling Road. He uses other rolling roads around the country as well.

What I'm saying is that power runs are not performed by any paticular mapper but the rolling roads staff members.

Matty81 08 June 2017 08:10 AM

Oh I see dunc. I've never used one but I know a few people who go down Surrey and they say it's pretty good.
