How on earth can you split a liner during machining??

b16jonc 04 April 2019 08:23 AM

I have no idea and at the time I was to annoyed to ask but I can only assume it happened during the honing process?

stockcar 04 April 2019 09:05 AM

we must do something "wrong" then as there is no way for us to split a liner in this way and even less chance of not seeing it afterwards???

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate crack but I'm really liking the new route this project is going! Thumbs up for the CDB!

Looking forwards to the updates =)

Ok so had all machine work done on the CDB and had all the forged bits fitted, along with arp head bolts, cometic 1.3mom gasket, baffled sump along with a host of new bolts, gaskets oil/water pump, silicone hoses and Evans waterless coolant

Good work mate!
Think I've seen this car about in high Wycombe before?

It’s rarely out to be honest mate, but I’ll be putting some miles on it now, where abouts are you?

personally take the Evans "waterless coolant" out and flush / replace with something else.................

its 'snake oil' (allegedley) IMO and does nothing but increase engine temps and ultimately will cause damage

b16jonc 14 May 2019 04:49 PM

I'll be honest mate, I did loads of research and spoke to a lot of people about the coolant and as my car isn't a daily it can sometimes be sat in the garage for weeks on end so a water based coolant isn't really suitable for my requirements

people will always have different views and opinions on products but rest assured if I have any issues with it I'll be putting it on here , but I appreciate the feedback anyway

Picked this lovely genuine Nardi dished steering wheel a few weeks ago, and it looks and feels spot on

you obviously swallowed the salesman's "guff" hook line and sinker.............why do you think a water based mix would cause any issues with long term storage as long as its done correctly??

in basic terms all you have done is fill your car with neat anti-freeze and whilst still not correct you would have achieved the same thing far cheaper!!

what most of these "waterless" set-ups lack is any actual cooling ability!!!
