Ferodo DS2500 or Carbone lorraine RC5+
Im after some new front pads in my blobeye wrx, running 340bhp on the standard subaru 4 pots and oem discs.
Currently have the standard pagid ones which surprisingly aren't too bad better then brembo but just dont cut it. i only work 2 miles up the road mon-fri so my engines barely warm and probably brake about 5 times before i get there. But i do alot of hard fast road driving at the weekend and the brakes just fade in more or less 10 minutes. out of the 2 pads which would you guys reccomend or i dont mind other reccomendations?? dont mind brake dust as i have gun metal grey alloys, i do want a decent bite from cold and i also dont mind if they eat discs got 2 new sets in the garage and there cheap. O i also dont want no squeal had some pads that squealed in a vw golf at low speeds felt like a t*t all the time people stareing. thanks. |
If it was for my car the carbone Lorraine RC5+ would be my first choice the Ferodo DS2500 is a good pad for day to day but for really hard driving fast road track etc the CL pads are far superior,you will get more noise from the CL pads though but that is the trade off between performance and comfort I'm afraid for better stopping power.SJ.

@stonejedi a couple of questions.
can you hear them squeal inside the car with the windows up? only have a quietish prodrive exhaust. when do they squeal low speeds? hows the grip from cold? |

Or you could give PF Zs a try. I've not tried CLs but I find Zs are better than DS2500

DS2500s are very dusty but seem to last for ages - which doesn't quite tally. I have them on my APs, they are OK but will definitely try something different when it comes to replace.

no PFC only have their race '11 compound available in this shape..........
personally if you want something more aggressive i would use the likes of F4R or the slightly less aggressive 1155's - be far more disc friendly than CL's |
What about DS3000?
Are these not suitable for everyday/fast road use? Do they not work from cold? I guess they need track-like abuse to get them working effectively, no? |

The PF Z's were going to be my pad of choice but they don't do them for the subaru 4 pots, thanks for confirming AS performance.
Think im going to take the plunge and get the CL's and apply the anti squeal paste with the hopes there is no irritating squeal, wont get my hopes up though lol sound advice lads :thumb: am i correct in saying these don't need bedding in too? |

I'm on my second set of cl5+ pads on 4 pots, i use my car for occasional road and track use, they have performed faultlessly for both uses. Not noisey or grabby on the road and inspire confidence on the track.
The minus points (pun intended) they are a dirty pad and not very kind to the discs. Great value pad if you like cleaning wheels. |
