Sidelight bulb replacement blobeye
Just noticed nearside front sidelight isn't working on my blobeye wrx. Are these a pain in the ass to get to?

Not a pain specifically, but you do have to remove the headlight unit!
3 bolts - 2 on the top & one accessible by removing the front grill. Pop a couple of the plastic fasteners out to give the bumper a little bit of flex. The headlight unit is clipped in to the wing, but a good tug will release it. There are a number of tutorials on the internet & a previous thread here: https://www.scoobynet.com/essex-suba...lb-change.html This thread has a couple of photos which should aid you: http://www.subaru-impreza.org/forum/...placement.html But a quick Google search should give you all the info you need :thumb: |
OK. Many thanks for tips.

Just done mine, here is where hidden screw is. No need for battery removal although you will need grille out, easy job.

Right. Finally got round to doing this. First thing one of the top bolts just sheared off. Not been touched in 14 years! Got the grill off and found the 3rd bolt. I cannot budge the light unit out though. Doesn't want to budge. Where should I be applying force? It is passenger side.

Hi Mate
Put force from where the bulb connectors are and push forward. It's held in large push in clips, once out put some fairy liquid on the clips and it'll go back in far easier then. Cheers Dave. |
it'll need a good wiggle to get the strange shaped blob headlight out. As said above, be careful not to damage your wing/bumper when removing it as it's easily done

Yes that is my worry, why I'm putting it off! One of my plastic grill clips has already broken due to being old and brittle. Are the clips that hold the actual light unit in a lot stronger?
