Cooling Fans "How To"

Need to replace the cooling fans on my 2002 bug Sti, is there a "How To" guide
Cheers.

It's easy, if you can manage to get a 10mm socket/spanner to the 4 x2 bolts holding it on via the shroud then no need to remove radiator, otherwise may have to remove rad.
Unplug the 2 plugs underneath for both fans

You will probably need to remove the top rad hose as well as I can't see you being able to slide the fans out otherwise, I would remove top rad brackets as well, but the main problem, as busta says is the actual bolts holding the fans/shroud onto the rad, top bolts should be ok but bottom 2 may have to be done from underneath with undertray removed.

I changed the rad recently on my newage, here's the DIY I did if it's any help: https://www.scoobynet.com/1004847-fo...l#post11653434

Cheers think it may be the time to get an up rated alloy rad and chane fans at the same time

Be aware that you may shear off bolts which have a habit of rusting solid. I did, but was able to remove them from the rear with mole grips, turning them INTO the hole, so the rusty bit didn't have to enter. Replace all bolts with M6 x 16 or M6 x 20 stainless, Screwfix or a local bolt and nut seller.
