Oil usage

Just checked my engine oil level and found it at the bottom of the dipstick again. I've added another litre. Not sure when I last topped it up, but not long ago. I guess it might have used 2 litres in 3000 or 4000 miles. Is this anything to worry about?

It's a forged engine, rebuilt 2.5 years ago and fitted with billet modded turbo so I assume new oil seals. No oil leaks, no smell of burning oil, no smoky exhaust.

I run a forged 2.5 and since fitting a catch can with return to sump my oil usage has stopped.

It's been a while since I had a catch can. I presume there is a breather pipe you disconnect from the intake and route it through to the can? How does it return to the sump? I'd like to do something like that, or just empty the can every few weeks.:thumb:

What grade oil are you using?

A catch can is a good shout. If you've got an upgraded turbo, or are running a lot of boost you can consume a fair amount if oil.
I thought this guide was a really good one:

Yes thanks. It's a very good thread. I've now been through it in detail and will start planning my install shortly.

Good choice :) Was just checking you weren't using the wrong grade. The amount you're using is not too bad, definitely heard of a lot worse with forged builds (and with standard engines).

Cheers
