Hawk Centre Console - Red illumination

I've got a 2003 JDM STI with red dash cluster and all the red Defi's going on and have seen a face lift centre console as per late Blobs and Hawks with red illuminations.

Most of the time I've seen them with green, but with the red was this an actual thing brought out for a specific model or did I just see someone that's modified the green to become red??

alex_00s 20 May 2016 11:47 AM

Thank you Mattybr5 for clarifying... all green from factory.

I'll need to do a bulb swap as and when :thumb:

What resistors / LED's did you get / need? Just thinking, might be handy incase anyone else is looking in the future :thumb:

Cpt Jack Sparrow 27 May 2016 11:54 AM

Ok so I have started this already and will post progress on here to help others that may wish to also attempt the mod

First off I ordered 10 of these on eBay, they were delivered 20hrs after purchase :luxhello::luxhello:

on the video he uses 3 LED's the ones I ordered are flat ended which gives a wide spread of light, also ultra bright 12V this is with just 1 LED as a test, going to try a second in these to see if it is any more RED as it is still shining through the green plastic filter

hi pal,

I've been wanting to do this to my car since i got it. Would you mind dropping in a link for the LEDs you used?

Is there any tips you'd reccomend after doing this yourself, or is the video pretty spot on?

Cheers

Cpt Jack Sparrow 29 May 2016 09:50 PM

Hi matey

The video is pretty much spot on, I only used 1 LED per dial not 3, and a small dot of super glue to hold in place.

These are the LED's

Looks spot on mate. Looks like I'll be doing this next time I have some time off.

Did you try it with 2 LEDS and was there any difference?

Andy.

Hi,

No I didn't bother with two, after a bit of playing around with the location of one it looked OK, so went with one.

A lot less faff with wires too....

TurboAndy 30 May 2016 06:58 PM

Jolly good I've ordered a set of those LEDS today.
