Hawk Centre Console - Red illumination
I've got a 2003 JDM STI with red dash cluster and all the red Defi's going on and have seen a face lift centre console as per late Blobs and Hawks with red illuminations.
Most of the time I've seen them with green, but with the red was this an actual thing brought out for a specific model or did I just see someone that's modified the green to become red?? |
Thank you Mattybr5 for clarifying... all green from factory.
I'll need to do a bulb swap as and when :thumb: |
If you find a guide on how to do this please link it here :) thinking of doing the same soon
|
Have a look at this video to make ur heater controls red |
Awesome link B9SLJ
I now have a bank holiday project :luxhello::luxhello: |
Can any electronics wizzards confirm the LEDs and Resistors he's using
|
Strike that..... Found them, and they are on their way....
|
i did this some years ago with my blob i just resoldered some red leds in place of the green ones if i recall.
no issues at all and was still working fine when the car was sold. |

Ok so I have started this already and will post progress on here to help others that may wish to also attempt the mod
First off I ordered 10 of these on eBay, they were delivered 20hrs after purchase :luxhello::luxhello: Resistors are already wired in as needed:thumb: http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...9/IMG_3203.jpg |

on the video he uses 3 LED's the ones I ordered are flat ended which gives a wide spread of light, also ultra bright 12V this is with just 1 LED as a test, going to try a second in these to see if it is any more RED as it is still shining through the green plastic filter

I've been wanting to do this to my car since i got it. Would you mind dropping in a link for the LEDs you used? Is there any tips you'd reccomend after doing this yourself, or is the video pretty spot on? Cheers |
Hi matey
The video is pretty much spot on, I only used 1 LED per dial not 3, and a small dot of super glue to hold in place. These are the LED's http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5mm-Pre-Wi...KO5x5gOjxyEq8A |

Andy. No I didn't bother with two, after a bit of playing around with the location of one it looked OK, so went with one. A lot less faff with wires too.... |
Jolly good I've ordered a set of those LEDS today.
