My gf8 sti *getting faster*
8 Attachment(s)
Well, had my sti wagon for around 2 years now so about time i put up a few pics and specs, been through a few changes while in my hands, but its nearly where id like it.
Its my daily driver, and cover around 250 miles a week in it so keeping it reliable and nice to drive was key. quick spec is: ver8 sti ej207 short block ver4 sti heads arp head studs cosworth head gaskets 750cc injectors, billet rails, parallel lines and AEM fuel reg AET bolt on gt30 with 70mm intake fmic kit Apexi turbo back exhaust system Haltech platinum sport ecu BC coilovers few pics: 1st day of owning Attachment 34812 Attachment 34813 new rims Attachment 34814 Attachment 34815 18s ruined the car in my opinion, so then switched to speedlines, and this is how the car sits today Attachment 34816 Attachment 34817 Attachment 34818 Attachment 34819 |
nice spec bud, what power is she running?
|
Hove you got the rotational idle set up on the ps1000?
|
no figures just yet, its running around 1.3 bar at the min, just waiting for my gt spec headers to arrive then il get the mapping finished on the dyno, still on the sti 5 speed at the min though so untill i get a 6 speed set up it will be capped off to 400ish in a vain attempt to make it last untill then.
JGlanzaV, no, to be honest i have still not fully explored the haltech features, is rotational idle the turbo cool down? |
Out of curiosity i gave the ALS a try with the rotational idle enabled, throttle only jacked open around 10%, on the base haltech settings, was seeing around 5 psi on the gauge when off the throttle, and just below 0 when on idle, wont be used again though as there is now no baffle left in my apexi system haha.
https://scontent-bru2-1.xx.fbcdn.net...8d&oe=57A15031 also just received my gt spec headers, currently in the process of wrapping them. having problems with my actuator sticking open after reaching peak boost, have enquired about a new actuator but was told i have to send the complete turbo back, so i am really considering modding the gt spec up pipe to run an external gate while i have easy access to the up pipe, |
well another 15k zero issue miles covered this year!
have not really done anything to it for a while other than drive, have this near new precision 5431e turbo lying around that im going to be fitting once all this xmas/near year stuff is out of the way, https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...ps8mzyrpvg.jpg really not enjoying the lag from the aet gt30, its a few years old now so probably a little tired. |
what power did the gt30 end up making bud?
|
Very beautiful looking motor, looks amazing on the speedlines.
|
really like that!! maybe the next one may be a wagon........
|
Really nice wagon. Those wheels suit it perfectly.
|
Try nice wagon! Puts mine to shame :D good to see it on the speedlines. Iv been searching high and low for a set. To no avail as of yet. Perfect option for a wagon imo. How do you find the bcs? They're on the ever growing list.
|
cheers all.
the bc's ride nice, but i have gone through 2 sets of front top mount bearings since they have been on, also adjusters have seized, despite a good coat of anti seize when they was fitted, actually on my to change list. |
Quite a change to the wagon since my last posts, it was returned back to standard and sat in the garage for the past 2 years.
How ever it has not stayed that way for long, been gathering parts over the past couple of months to push for 500bhp+. changes are: rcm rotated kit turbosmart 45mm wastegate boostlabs 5855 duel ball bearing billet turbo (gt30 based) racinglines filtered oil feed kit rcm oil drain kit injector dynamics idx1050 injectors fuji racing top feed fuel rail kit rcm fuel reg rcm track attack breather tank kit advanced automotive 10mm o-ringed inlet spacers advanced automotive 4"air filter haltech elite 1500 ecu powersteering lines swapped to teflon just a couple of boost pipes to make up then i can make a start on a low boost tune while i source and fit a 6 speed setup, should be fun! https://scontent-lht6-1.xx.fbcdn.net...84&oe=5DB1A93F |
wow looking good, looking forward to seeing the dyno results

Just need to tidy up a few things such as powersteering relocation, and weld up some new boost pipes to suit the new fmic setup then can start the running in. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...3915ed3d57.jpg |
Well hired a dyno today to do a little bit of engine break in and get a decent base map on it.
far exceeded my expectations and produced 542bhp and 584nm tourqe at only 23psi on v power and very Conservative timing while only revving to 7000rpm. Ran out of wastegate spring unfortunately and couldn't make over 23psi however more than happy with how its heading, next step is to put a few more miles on it, change the wastegate spring and do a few pulls on x85 race fuel I have. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...0b83bd298f.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...ccea40f2b8.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...077b7a58a2.jpg |
