From Blobeye to Type R
Ive only had my blobeye for a few months, and its my first scoob and love it.
But, the look of a V6 Type R its just amazing to me, And I wondered what it would be like going from a 330hp blob to say a standard type r? The blob seems pretty "raw" to me , and thats what I see Type R owners go on about. So say i did make the change, what differences would I expect to see? |
Which blobeye do you have now?

STi Prodrive Type UK

I've had both cars, I would describe the type r as more "raw".
Only reason I swapped as I wanted something more practical (doors). The blobeye car is noticeably heavier then a type r. The only way you'll know which one you prefer is to drive one. I can relate to what you're saying though, I've got a blobeye at the moment and I still look at type r's and lust for one. |
How come its that much heavier though? Its not like the Blob is a really high spec or anything? I did think a type r would be more nimble though.

Shorter ratios, lighter, lower seating position and different power delivery all adds up to a very different and much more visceral experience in the R. If you're ever at Richard Henry's and im there give me a shout will take you out in mine :)

I was actually going to give them a call very shortly to get this in for a service so i may just do that!

I have come from a type r sti v3 to a uk blob. The type r feels so much quicker and agile. Both are cracking cars though

I went from a Blob WRX with PPP to a standard Type R to a modified Blob - all daily drives.
I loved my first Blob but fancied a Type R. Found a type R, liked it & did a few track days in it. The only issue you may have is certain parts are not available, prices are literally shooting through the roof (I've seen one in the flesh that is now for sale over £10K & it's a shed), patience is needed in finding a clean, straight one at a reasonable price. I'm now running a modified Blob Spec C that is very raw for me! If you need to scratch an itch then do it but if not stick with what you have and enjoy it. |
