How many miles has it done?
If it's over say 50000 I would get a full refresh with bearings rings and seals but that's just me.

You would split a block and do bearings and rings on an engine showing no signs of any problems ? ..seriously ?

OP: If you are increasing power and have the engine out already then swapping the fibre gaskets for MLS would be easy to do at this stage, yes

Absolutely. If it's out and he's considering removing the heads then if it's that far apart I would deffo be fitting new bearings at least. But like I said that's just what I would do.
