Pink sti filter what's so special?

Hi all could someone please enlighten me why is this one neRly £40 is it worth spending the extra money?
Thx to all in advance:hjtwofing

They are available for less than £30 and are designed for motor sports, with resistance to high temperature and high pressure. (Can also be used for street driving.) Carbon has been added to prevent filter paper deformation and damage when the pitch spacer net is under high pressure. Compatible with high-viscosity oil.

Rather pointless especially if you service your car every 3k miles

personally unless the car is being tracked a lot and heavily modified i cant see it being worth it. :wonder:

AS Performance 25 January 2016 03:38 PM

if you want the 'best' modified m/sport style filter then the RCM version are as good as anything out there and what we use / recomend - basically half the cost of the STi one (have seen plenty or real world evidence / data to confirm)

the std BLACK JDM spec filter takes a lot of beating for "normal" use.......

all in stock as well as specialist fluids, etc......

Thanks I've always only used the black genuine ones so all good I'll stick to them thanks to every1 for there input much appreciated:thumb:

You don't need a pink sti filter for normal use, the only reason I use a pink filter is because it is stronger and flows better but my car is running 400+, uprated oil pump, millers 10w50 oil and is used for track days, sprints and hill climbs.

Very understandable with that much power I've always used the black ones but thought I'd go for a pink one this year but after all info and advice I'm sticking to the genuine black ones as there won't be any difference in safety as mines only running 337bhp or looks as you can't see it neither  thx for all info and ad ice guys much appreciated:thumb:

I did read that the RCM filter adds an extra 8 bhp.Don't know if that's true or not 😉
