UK A45 1/4m fastest time

Goes to me..... having just banged in a 11.80 @ 115.96mph down Shakey! :o :luxhello:

Nothing mind blowing in general drag times, but it'll do for now. ;)

Previous quickest time was 11.86 set a few months ago.

Christ these cars are quick with fairly basic levels of tuning.

Can't wait until I get the next blower on! :D

LEO-RS 28 September 2015 08:06 AM

A good time, well done :thumb:

Litchfield Stage 2 yeah? What does this entail, approx cost and power/torque levels? Hybrid turbo next surely?

There are a few Stage 2 Golf R's/S3's running slightly quicker than that but I'm sure you'll be hot on their heels.

Shaun 28 September 2015 12:35 PM

Thanks! :)

Litchfield's Stage 2 (dynoed at 450/440) is:
Induction Kit
Decat DP
Custom ECU remap

Yes... a couple of the R's are indeed slightly quicker. This is down to their superior power to weight and much better DSG box. My car currently weighs 1570kgs... without me sat in it! With me it's tipping the scales at 1653kgs (inc. half a tank of fuel).

Going down the EFR route next. Should hopefully see a good increase in secret sauce! :D

Tidgy 28 September 2015 12:40 PM

nice one matey.

is that the full mods list dude? Also whats your next mod plans?

banny sti 28 September 2015 01:01 PM

Well done Shaun :)

Does the car have launch control or was that just you flooring it from the light?

bioforger 28 September 2015 05:00 PM

Was the spec of the previous quickest time of 11.86 set in an A45 with the same spec as yours, or better/worse?

Shaun 28 September 2015 08:01 PM

Thanks chaps. :)

Tidgy,
That's the total sum of my current mods. :)

Next up will be mods to the charge cooling system and then looking to fit an EFR turbo (with a remap obviously). Possibly need additional gearbox cooling as well.

Uncle Creepy,
That's the plan! :D

Steve,
Yes... car has launch control as standard. Although that's not straight forward, as I have that much torque at the moment the car is struggling for traction. This needs to be worked on. This time was set with a 1.8s to 60ft, so you can see we need to look at improving traction.

bioforger,
The other car is lighter by around 15-20kgs and has a full straight through exhaust system (inc. decat). I've just got a decat DP..... the rest is OEM. He is also AD08's.... I'm on much less grippy OEM Continentals.

I'm good friends with the other owner, who was also in attendance on the same day. The best he saw was a 11.93 this time.

The current WR lies with a guy over the pond. He has ran a 11.74. Similar level of tune, but he is mapped for 104oct fuel and uses slicks!

Littleted 29 September 2015 08:41 PM

Ill have u in my Mini I'm gonna ring that company down south who has the 10 second mini, I'm gonna drop a V8 in and have massive tractor front wheels....

8 days to go

Just lining up the remap, unsure who to use yet, but looking like I can have between 271 and 290 BHP from a plugin or ecu map, should be fun in a 1280 kg car, stock mini runs 16psi remap ups it to 21...

SPEN555 30 September 2015 01:04 PM

Shaun,

At similar power levels what 1/4 mile times were you getting in the Scoob?

Shaun 30 September 2015 01:55 PM

Littleted,
Look forward in seeing your pictures mate! :)

SPEN555,
Never ran either of my scoobs down the quarter with this kind of power. :( However, looking at this thread https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...l it appears this car goes well.

The quickest newage (with power close to mine) on that table is a 500bhp 2003 STI, that ran 11.5 @ 124.

I've got less power and considerably more weight.

Littleted 30 September 2015 08:38 PM

Ok so I'm struggling with remappers, I have two choices
Celtic tuning these guys have been going ages, come to me and do it.

Or More-BHP in Crewe they will give me 290bhp and these stats
torque from 320 - 416nm.....which equates to around 4.6 to 60.

Problem I have is their all ECU maps and I could shag my warranty..... Not Much brass though only 400 quid....mmmmmmm
They limit it to 290 and 420nm on the auto minis due to torque limiter the manual I'm getting I'm told if I want I go to 310 LOL.... Prob blow up mmmmm

Remap graph

Facebook Post

Is that any good?

Shaun 01 October 2015 08:30 AM

Torque looks nice and flat. :)

Try looking at Manic Motorsport as well. There SPS switching box is meant to be very very good.

banny sti 01 October 2015 08:32 AM

Shaun are you going for a borg warner EFR turbo?

Flat is good, pulls harder for longer than peaking and falling away quickly :thumb:

We need to get a new set of tubular headers made up as well, along with a different downpipe. Will be interesting to see how this all performs. :)

Littleted 01 October 2015 09:55 AM

Just rung CLP, lets see what i can get with the SPS box

i would have though any mods would shag it?

Littleted 01 October 2015 04:29 PM

suppose Tidge I'm looking at it like the box i had on the 45, i just took it off and service went without a hitch.

i suppose if they dug about they may see something on the ECU, this Mini is so new that all the maps I'm skeptical will just be aggressive to the ECU and all sorts of flags will appear...

theboy 01 October 2015 07:19 PM

Really tempted to get my A45 re-mapped, but i know i will then end up going for stage 2 etc.

Littleted 02 October 2015 10:18 AM

do it, the cars a different beast with the stage 1

Shaun 02 October 2015 06:36 PM

And it's different again with an ECU remap! ;)

theboy 19 October 2015 09:01 PM

Just the warranty issue that really concerns me

Shaun 20 October 2015 12:26 PM

The A45 appears to be a reliable vehicle overall. The only concern imo is the OEM turbo.

Issues with these appear to be very infrequent with the later cars.

There appears to be over 1700 A45's registered in the UK, and the forums/social media do not point to turbo issues being on any sizeable scale.

Also remember that even with an ECU map, a copy of your OEM map will be taken, which can be written back to the ECU if needed. No "flags" will be shown in this situation.

Off topic but how do you find out how many of a particular model has been sold in the UK?
