What to do with bonnet scoop on FMIC

I can't find any threads on this but assume it must have been covered before?
I've had a few imprezas but this is my 1st with FMIC.
At the moment the bonnet scoop is full open to the elements and I'm just a little concerned that the rain and flies ect are just allowed to contaminate the engine and electrics.
Just wondering what you guys do with the scoop, leave it open or cover/blank it off? I was thinking of putting some fine mesh in there but interested to know what other people's set up is?

Cheers
Rich

Leave it be, the airflow helps with cooling of the gearbox rain still gets in with a tmic so not any different

Ok cheers, just thought that the tmic had a seal from the scoop so rain only got onto the cooler.
Probably just worried about nothing really and the extra airflow can only be a good thing :thumb:

Anything that went onto the old intercooler went through it.

Prior to his death, I asked the late, great Harvey Smith this same question, and also asked should I fit a rear facing scoop?

True to form, Harve had done the research and found that blocking the scoop, or fitting a reverse scoop, reverse louvres etc RAISED the underbonnet temperatures significantly ON A ROAD CAR.

With the tmic out of the way the scoop sends masses of cold air directly onto the hot & cold side fmic pipes, also the turbo, probably even more effective when it's raining.
