Spec C yellow light and Gulf petrol

How long do you have when the yellow light comes on in a Spec C? (blob eye)

My local Shell has converted into a ****ing Gulf! I guess that means no more V-power!

The car was mapped for V-power, anyone know what octain Gulf uses?

Cheers.

JDM_Stig 11 September 2015 10:07 AM

banny sti 11 September 2015 10:09 AM

50 litre tank on spec c iirc warning light possibly comes on ant 10 litres left and gulf will be 97ron at best

walterwhite 11 September 2015 10:27 AM

Gulf... WTF?!

Obscure brand taking over a Shell station... popular site too. What's going on there?!

alcazar 11 September 2015 11:40 AM

10 litres could be 50 miles or 10.

quklux 11 September 2015 12:02 PM

put lpg for old crap

The Trooper 1815 11 September 2015 03:22 PM

Octane booster?

cuprajake 11 September 2015 03:28 PM

Have the map tweeked for the fuel your going to use, dare say you would notice much difference

walterwhite 14 September 2015 10:20 AM

last time i put octane booster in, my car went into some diminished power state. the boost was low power until i reset the ECU. not putting that crap in again.

i see Gulf has an endurance fuel which is 102 ron. i guess i could use that?

V-power was only 99 i think, will there be any problems?

Gooch89 14 September 2015 11:45 AM

Walter, you're not in Lanark, South Lanarkshire by chance are you? Local Shell there just switched to Gulf too...

no, north lanarkshire.

i passed ANOTHER shell station today that was coned off - exactly like my local one was before it transformed into Gulf.....

walterwhite 14 September 2015 01:16 PM

just got an email back from Gulf.

the Endurance at the pump is 97 ron

102 is for at Silverstone.

seems Gulf have an expansion program going on from what he said... may be hard to find V-power in certain areas!

will the ECU go into limp mode with 97?

Davec30 14 September 2015 02:31 PM

Tesco Wishaw and Bellshill both have momentum and both North Lanarkshire.

walterwhite 15 September 2015 12:36 PM

they are still miles off.

what ron does BP do? there is one near my work.

confirmed that other Shell station i seen coned off is turning into a Gulf :Suspiciou

Gooch89 16 September 2015 11:05 AM

Shell V Power and Tesco Momentum 99 are the only two true 99 RON fuels available in the UK as far as I'm aware. All the rest, BP, Esso etc. are 98 or below.
