Thinking of starting Classic Sti breaker business

As above, been thinking of maybe importing classic Sti's for breaking as the parts seem to be getting snapped up quick enough from what I have seen on here and from breakers UK wide! I would just specialise on the Classics as there is enough guys doing the Newage marques! What do you guys think?

it would have been a great idea 5 years ago but it's been done to death now and there are no good cars left which is why the breakers have moved on to newer cars.

Although people are starting to pay more for classics as they are far and few between so parts will still be sort after however not on a large scale I dont think.

Be better improrting classic sti,s and selling them as there some amount of rusty junk in the country now and at least the chavs wont have destroyed them before putting them up for sale.

There's no money in breaking classics unless they have a mega spec. Hence why nobody breaks classics anymore.

taylor85 25 March 2015 01:57 PM

yeah plus the spares market is flooded with what you want

much better importing decent cars people want and make them near pristine / immaculate

Thanks lads for the interesting feedback on this! With availability in Japan of quality classic Sti's dwindling by the day and prices rising monthly over there I don't see there being much money in it selling cars to drive away! This is why I was thinking down the breaking route but I will keep looking and will maybe sort something out on the best way forward!

Cheers

Personally i'd go down the route of being a general breaker for older japanese cars overall not just imprezas.

food for thought,

Cheers

Just don't import Tsunami damaged cars to break ;)

 Lol

As said before your years to late, classic's are dropping in number fast. So demand for parts will drop, and prices of classic's will go up.

I've already noticed prices for classic parts are selling for less and less each year.

You can pick up a full stainless steel system for peanuts now, body panels are worthless aswell

So really you need to buy as many rare JDM models out there, and sell complete.

Zuber 25 March 2015 08:53 PM

Fair enough, but have you seen the prices in Japan recently for quality Sti Type Ra and Type R's? There is allot of interest in these marques now and competion is fearce for them with prices getting silly at auction and through dealers. There just ain't enough money to be made unless you can buy 10 each month if you can find that many and manage to purchase them!

Produce rear arches for classics to replace rage rust that they are all having now

Sensible price £300 a pair

Zuber 25 March 2015 09:37 PM

I have no idea how to make body panels so that idea is out the window! :wonder:

Helpful input as always ;)

The only advice I can give is, make sure you send the parts and make sure you insure for the correct value............Don't not send them and then blame the courier when someone asks where their parts are to try and hide the fact you're a scammer..

True story

Zuber 25 March 2015 10:29 PM

Yeah been ripped off myself and read many horror stories on here and elsewhere so know the score concerning that. I think I will do the odd car here and there and sell them as runners and not break them and stick to my day job!

jazzyjembreaze 25 March 2015 10:40 PM

As was stated , look into finding & becoming the UK supplier ( breaker for JDM exotics .
Also ( & this is a biggie) try contacting tuning houses for gems ... Top secret , veilside , mines etc etc , some great old stuff out there from the 90's
Better to go all out , rather limiting yourself to subaru .
Good luck , hope it works out for you .

Zuber 25 March 2015 10:49 PM

Thanks for your thoughts on this also, I will hopefully sort something out!

kenc 26 March 2015 08:45 PM

If you price up exactly what you will get from breaking a classic... You soon will forget the idea... Nothing on a standard classic that will bring the money... That's where newages win
