*** RB!, subaru wagon, driveway build ***
right then, after selling my last skid car a good few months ago due to buying my first house iv finally saved up enough to treat myself :luvlove: to an na wagon
iv had rx7s ae86 silvias skylines etc but I like being different so the plan lol Subaru wagon rb25det with Nissan front suspension steering setup, I don't no if its going to work all I have is hopes and dreams and very little money so this isn't going to be a big money project all the fabrication will be done by me, other than the propshaft iv not dabbled in the Subaru world so im relying on you lot to help me:D first question, regarding the rear diff setup im assuming the current diff wont hold the power and iv hurd an r180 will hold good power can I put a r180 straight in or do I also need to replace the diff half shafts and hubs? wiring is going to be fun after emoving the dash iv found the ecu loom and interior loom are one! so I think when I get the rb loom im gona hav to sit down in the living room with a couple beers and wiring looms n try and make it happen any way here she is http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...psdt8epr8a.jpg |
I got a mate to pick it up on hes flat bed heres a few pics of it on here drive

and on my drive her resting place, for some time lol

Good luck mate!! Thinking of putting a sr20 in mine!! be interested to see how the loom turns out
|

will put some pics up when I get the subframe to show what my job luks like  |
all so is any one able to answer my question
https://www.scoobynet.com/drivetrain...lp-needed.html its a long way off touching the rear end but I like to have a plan in place ;) |
had a couple hours free today, so spent sum time on the car
removed the gearbox brace as its definatly not needed, altho I will need to cut the tunnel out I wont do so until I have the engine and gearbox setup to see what needs to be removed and where http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...psn3uzs5eh.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...pspbn8xrwv.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...psiycdxye7.jpg removed all of the remaining dash parts and started removing the sound dentening http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...pspigoorzg.jpg |
I would of thought the transmission tunnel would have been big enough with no need to chop anything.Have you actually got the new engine and box?
|
no not yet but the only other scoody ( not wagon :) built by japperformance parts had to modify the tunnel to exept the rb gearbox, however im not going to till I get the setup and offer it up my self
altho its going to be a wile until I can afford the engine, so plan is to do all free manual work that can be done now like removing the sound dentening cleaning the engine bay and getting my head around the wiring diagrams etc so that when I do get the engine setup im ready to go progress will be slow but hopefully the end result will be pretty cool |
There is a conversion kit out there to fit these engines and the transmission modification is not needed:)

sweet do you have a link mate? |
I messaged you the other day only just seen this :)
|
picked up some parts
s14 front subframe s14 steering rack- poly bushed s14 japspeed track rods and ends s14 lower arms s14 knuckles wont be able to fab the front subframe until I can afford the engine setup so next on the list is to start on tubbing the front arches as the arches are very small being 4wd with smaller lock, angle grinder time |
so front arches are done, still have the upper and lower gussets to make, but ther welded in, seam sealed and coated in red oxide to keep them nice, arches were made from a 2mm sheet of steel with no fancy tools
didn't manage to get any in-between pics unfortunately as just wanted to crack on wile the weather was nice for once, roll on the clocks going forward so I can get some light in the evenings http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...pszn4ulgw4.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...pslnp7gvod.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...psrv7hsygd.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...psxrzrqsvj.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...pse5sr5yor.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...psxka7vvew.jpg |
In for the updates ;)
|
cheers mate also considering going sr as the rbs14 I built allways felt front end heavy and not very nimble, so im on the fence at the moment
|
I would be interested to see the sr20
|
Watching this on driftworks, awesome.
I am just about to start converting my gc8 for rwd using a SR20det from an s14. Can't wait start now I have the engine, box and loom. Good Luck |
if changing the wheels, would be interested in the steelies
|
Cheers for the comments

well, iv made a decision handling over the sweet sound of a straight 6 it is
not allot to update other than iv found an sr setup that fits the bill and im now working my arse off to pay for it, I want this car to feel nimble light and responsive, altho I love the sound of an rb, the sr pokes the same power albeit in different ways for roughly the same money, either setup you can push/ build to what you want so plan is to rock it fairly standard then when the winter comes and iv learnt the car, play with the handling and maybe rebuild the sr or go vet ;O hopefully picking the engine up next week so will update then with some pics of a dirty sr ;) |
gizmo is not impressed with daddy, still no engine!
http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...psambscnaj.jpg then this happened, not bolted in just placed in to see what it luks like, settled for a bent cam removed from a low mileage auto s14 just need a gearbox now then I can start measuring and making up the mounts etc http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...psj7igya2m.jpg |
Cut out lower sections from chassis rails as had no need for them
http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps73jk5kgh.jpg Picked up some front brakes and gave the disks a lick of paint http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...psbqmtoqvw.jpg - - - Updated - - - http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...psmyrzmhnu.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...psclgifqqx.jpg How the loom is looking http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps2tagfndo.jpg |
