Subaru engine advice
Is there anyway to tell if an engine is
open deck, semi closed deck or fully closed deck? And which one would you recommend? I've also seen some with coil packs and ht leads, does this make much of a difference? I haven't heard to good things about the engines with ht leads but I'm new to scooby's |
cdb will cross hatching on it, but the question is what are your plans?
cdb are stronger, but also more expensive and may be ott for what you want. Are you looking to buy a car, get an engine built, what are your power goals, what are you gonna use the car for, etc etc etc |

a classic with 350 will be rapid, especialy if you picked up an RA or R.
Have you got a purchasing budget in mind? |

I believe R and RA are 1190kg others came in around 1260kg, but seems to vary from year to year.
most hardcore version is a 95 RA |

70kg in not far off a passenger, so is a reasonable amount. RA/R also have short ratio gearbox.
Decat, panel filter and map initialy and see how you go, list of possible upgrades is long, brakes, suspension, etc etc |

If the closed deck is the best for power and is the strongest,
Which versions did they come in? |

The type R's are no lighter than a regular impreza. V3 and V4 'R's' are roughly 1240kg and that increased with the later cars.
