Where to look - boost controllers - advice needed!

Hi All!

I have a Classic 2000 STI, runs great! I will get some pictures up later.

Its currently boosting around 1 bar - I assume this is standard and putting out at a guess 270bhp? - Whatever the standard is for these beasties. It feels nippy :)

I have read lots of threads on this forum that its safe to push them up to around the 350ish mark.

My question is.. I want to do this as cheap as possible as its my daily driver (my weekend car is something else that has no place being mentioned here!). What I want to do is install a mechanical boost controller. Can anyone direct me to someone in hampshire area that can help, or tell me what I would be looking for? I am assuming increasing boost from 1 to 1.2 bar would be relatively safe?

Thanks for any advice!

Don't do that! Get it remapped and stop being cheap!!

You honestly think putting a boost controller on will get 350bhp lol messing with the boost levels and taking away the control of the ecu will result in destroyed engine, get it done properly and get it remapped.

276bhp is the official figure although most car manufacturers lied.

Your car will need an Ecutek remap or a standalone ecu (both aren't cheap)

Go for an electronic boost controller (and get it set up properly) rather than a mechanical one although a proper remap is a safer way to go.

Duncan (aka Racedynamix) maps from near Hampshire http://www.racedynamix.co.uk/remap/

Which exact model of classic do you have ???

Khandaris 13 November 2014 11:32 PM

I believe it's the year 2000 STI - it has all the trimmings for an STI - classic shape. it has been de-badged by the previous owner. is there a way to tell from a vin number or other identifying numbers?

Log book ?

2000 STi
Seems strange
Is It am import ? Or uk modle

Forget the idea of boost control

Subaru isn't like a scaletrix car that you can put more power through by turning a dial or trigger

What do you wamt 350 for anyway
Are the brakes / suspenssion upgradedd

Open the bonnet, look on the right hand side suspension leg, there is a VIN plate there. On that VIN plate will be a 'applied model code'. Post that code here and we'll be able tell you which model you have.
