fabricated products..

I've been working closely with a fabrication shop lately,. and it got me wondering if there is any call for U.k fabricated parts :wonder:
We just do billet work, so no welding/bending.
These guys are very good at what they do, but are a bit light on work... So I was looking to put some work their way if there was a market for it?

A couple of people have asked us recently for strut braces and diff guards , but what else is there? would the general public rather pay a bit extra for quality U.k made products rather that the stuff on eBay. I have just had a quick look and see you can pick up strut braces for £35 ..

If so I was going to get hold of a classic and leave it with them to take some measurements

thoughts please

I could do with a newage battery cover that covers the terminals as mine are getting wet due to the chargespeed bonnet I have with the vents in it

nikon-man 12 November 2014 08:46 PM

engine dress up products... things like fuse box covers, caps for all bottles so things like brake fluid cap etc etc...so instead of plastic which some nice caps and covers I would want them all

some of these are available for odd cars but not things like WRX hatch

ditchmyster 12 November 2014 08:51 PM

H-braces, diff lockers, rear diff carriers and gear box cradles, front sub-frames, harness bars, bolt in cages, some of the guys on here and 22b spend a small fortune on that kind of stuff.:thumb:

taylor85 12 November 2014 08:54 PM

Harness bars !

scoobyricht 12 November 2014 08:55 PM

Tubular rear subframes... ive looked into doing this myself but aint got time... plenty of designs about and many very over complicated.

How about an alternative to the beatrush rear diff brace, I fitted one a few days ago, and I'd imagine they would be simple enough to fabricate.

Willowsdad 12 November 2014 09:22 PM

Seen as you already do the arb's, how about stout mounts for the rear. The diff brace would be a good idea too.

jazzyjembreaze 12 November 2014 09:24 PM

Well a good tubular subframe is around £1500-1800 but it's more than welding & bending metal . Harness bars , battery relocation trays, swirl pot & fuel cell enclosures all wouldn't require to much effort in the R&D .diff guards , disk cooling back plates , floor braces , fabricated parcel shelf & rear floor covers all sound good

Regards mic

Steve darley is your man for tubular subframes. Top quality stuff!

Yeah disc backing plates all rust to **** and most people replace them with another slightly less rusty one or a overpriced new bit of stamped steel that will rust again. Better ali ones would be awesome and I think would sell and are not made by anyone else.

A lot of suggestions are already made elsewhere by other companies and you would have to compete price wise which I am sure is hard when its china made stuff.

Anodised top mount brackets?

Things like tubular subframes are great but most can't afford them and they are all welded tube right?

Again suspension arms (lateral links, trailing arms, wishbones) all awesome but would undoubtedly be very expensive and limited market due to cost.

Tax disc holders. :thumb:

Good idea banny, i want to re - route my perrin fmic pipework to go behind and underneath rather than across the top

nikon-man 13 November 2014 11:08 AM

I think the general feeling is more cosmetic items so to speak

alcazar 13 November 2014 11:47 AM

Could they do cills and rear quarter panels?

They seem to be damned difficult to find, at least for classics.

CDF already do a catch tank :lol1: Nice bits of kit too. Although now i think of it, hose couplers would come in handy. Sourcing them seperately was a right pain.

I like the manifold idea. Could do an off the shelf reverse inlet kit.

10bats 13 November 2014 06:11 PM

Harness bars

SirFozzalot 13 November 2014 08:32 PM

Door sill (sp :wonder: ) protectors?

Diff guard would be popular I reckon. Wish I got a Prodrive one when they were available. :(

[QUOTE=neil-h;11559808]CDF already do a catch tank :lol1: .

/QUOTE]

Apologies for not being a CDF trainspotter - it's not apparent from their online shop that they do- I couldn't find one, although there is a 5hit load of tubular sub frames, suspension arms etc already on there if you really want to be picky...

I've been called a lot of things but 'trainspotter' is a new one on me :lol1:

Besides, i only know they do a catch can because i've bought one.
