"Take care......"

What is it with people, I get this quite often, even over the phone from somebody never spoken to before

Do they really consider you vulnerable... About to cop it

Or are they comforting themselves. :wonder:

jonc 31 October 2014 01:03 PM

You might even get this on the internet so when surfin', do take care.

neil-h 31 October 2014 01:05 PM

It's just a parting comment to end a conversation with. Sounds like you're massively over thinking it.

Take care. ;)

JTaylor 31 October 2014 01:07 PM

I say "God bless", that really upsets some people! :lol1:

Rescue Dude 31 October 2014 01:16 PM

If anyone says "take care" to me I always say, "what's the fun in that"? :lol1:

When i was in America - everyone gave the parting gesture of "....have a nice day..."

Got really on my wick.

Is that person really wanting me to 'have a nice day' - even though they don't know me or are they really just saying 'goodbye'.

Then why not just say "goodbye"

As apposed to - 'Have a nice day' 'I hope you don't become ill' 'I hope you aren't effected by any sexual disease' 'I hope you're not implicated in some dubious pedophile accusation'

hawky666 31 October 2014 04:52 PM

how about those who say

bye.. bye, bye.. bye then hang up as if there in a hurry to get rid of you.
It's just what people pick up as habit and i don't really read into it too much.

oh, and i'm one of those.... take care, bunch.

Take care.

dpb 31 October 2014 04:54 PM

The one who used the phrase most was the youngish guy on the counter at the garage I used to go to down the bottom of teh rd

Last but two times I went there he'd gone.

I guess he didn't heed his own advice :(

tarmac terror 31 October 2014 06:25 PM

It's just pleasantries - I usually greet people with "hello, how are you" - I am not really asking for an assessment of their wellbeing at that point in time. Will often say "see you later" or "bye for now" or "take care" at the end of conversation. They are just habitual expressions, nothing more, nothing less.

That's yanks for you

I hate people saying 'Hey' instead of 'Hi' all of the time. It might work in America but I don't think it quite works in Britain the same way. Here if you Hey to someone it almost sounds like fighting talk, well up North it does anyway. It's like "Hey", and you're like "Hey what, have you got a problem or something?"

Simple manners and an empathic nod as you part company costs nothing and goes along way you miserable c**t! :thumb:

I always say cheers chap even if it's a woman cheers chap.

JamesDundee 02 November 2014 03:54 PM

I normally start a conversation by saying "Listen here sh!thead" and end it with "go f*ck yourself".

Take Care

Jim
