Tata Steel Long Products up for sale

As per found out via Facebook before my shift started today.

Don't know much but apparently there's an agreement in place to look into a deal with the Klesch Group - an asset striping specialists... nice :lol1:

Ah well, 5 years service thus far, see how long Scunthorpe lasts if the place shuts (there are profitable areas of the Scunthorpe plant still).

As you were...

What part of plant were you on?

TBH this has been coming, and you know MY feelings about TATA Steel whatever they mean for the town........

Perhaps a regime that appoints the best person for a job, rather than from within, might do better?

As an example, ask around...see how many of their "engineers" have any engineering qualification at all......

And the folk in the "glasshouse" that run it.....brown-nosers all.

Yep, when the company were making big profits under the British Steel and Corus days, nobody cared about your above pints. Times were good and the ££ went on bonuses and shareholders, without a thought of modernising/maintaining an aging plant.

Now it seems it's impossible to meet these new emissions guidelines unless a £320-500million investment is made on the Coke Ovens.

I'm just glad I've got my trade for when the inevitable happens.
