"O J" Pistorius

Sentencing begins today.

So what do you reckon?

Could be 1 week community service, say polishing artificial limbs, to 15 years hard labour.

Personally I would like to see him swinging from a rope

dl

dpb 13 October 2014 12:17 PM

He certainly should be banged up

Time to reflect on his obsession with firearms

urban 13 October 2014 01:03 PM

I think once the lawyers put the testimony of the witnesses in doubt - although lots of shouting and screaming just before a gun shot is arguably pretty tough to mistake - they would never get him on full blown murder. Or if they went for murder he'd get off on appeal. I think the judgement was the only sound one that would stick 100%.

He has to serve time though - I'm sure thats part of the deal. He has to be seen to do some time. If not then yeah, its just a complete pi55 take.

dpb 14 October 2014 09:57 AM

Way its going he'll get 3 month suspended sentence with a recommendation for light gardening duties on sunday afternoon

Mouser 16 October 2014 04:36 PM

The longer this sentencing goes on the more farcical it becomes. Justice for Reeva Steenkamp looking more and more unlikely as the focus of the court now seems to be how prison would affect Oscar Pistorius if he had to serve a custodial sentence. Pistorius could end up with some sort of house arrest and community service.

Who cares, if a trial of some no mark athlete in another country matters to you this much maybe you should pop down the 'life' shop and see if they have one for you!

I'm pretty sure he is better known than the current F1 drivers outwith the top six or so.

I don't know which way it will go. I saw Sky programme on this case's court proceedings tonight. Nel argued well on Oscar's excuse of his disability to avoid jail.

urban 21 October 2014 08:50 AM

Well, todays the day we find out.

Looking like he will avoid jail on disability grounds

what makes ya think that then ?
the Judge has said prisons are fine.

dpb 21 October 2014 09:36 AM

I bet he himself thinks he deserves, some form of correction, cos he definitely has issues , what was really ugly was the way he lost in the last race to the colombian ( or was it cuban )

birchy2010 21 October 2014 09:43 AM

5 years is ridiculous!

dpb 21 October 2014 09:58 AM

All the waterworks paid off then

dpb 21 October 2014 10:02 AM

No appeal from defence, funnily enough...

They both still have the option of Appeal, I would guess the prosecution will over sentence being too lenient anyway.

andy97 21 October 2014 10:31 AM

Well there is a real chance he will die from being in prison. The prison population in SA , 41% are hiv positive.

Bloody hell the population of SA, 1 in 9 are hiv positive(millions of the buggers)

RobJenks 21 October 2014 11:38 AM

10 months effectively is a joke sentence , by a joke judge in a joke of a country.
He murdered that girl and has got away with it.
Only bettered by Lord Lucan.

dpb 21 October 2014 11:40 AM

No more lympics for him

Mouser 21 October 2014 11:42 AM

Lots of media interest for a "no mark athlete".

The verdict sits squarely on the fence.

urban 21 October 2014 12:34 PM

Where the 10 months coming from though if they've given him a 5 year sentence?

JDM_Stig 21 October 2014 12:36 PM

they can get out after 1/6th of the sentence

dpb 21 October 2014 12:46 PM

I reckon he'll be Olympic standard, on his stumps, before he gets out......

dpb 21 October 2014 01:11 PM

If he didn't get to have his own cell

Absurd.

He's s not injured, is he!

dpb 21 October 2014 07:16 PM

Judge gave a rapist 250 years in prison last year.....

Nel was trying to be smart there and then; straight after sentencing, but couldn't really clarify what he was going on about. He may now spend some time studying and then put forward a strong appeal. I hope so.
