No Boost and high emmisions :(
Put my Scooby in for an mot and emmisions were awfull,
also having problems the past few weeks with intermittent boost issues. Sometimes she boosts perfect other times no boost atoll... was thinking air flow meter but thought id ask before I change it? |
split boost pipe
surley that wouldn't effect the emissions on mot tho? idle and fast idle are insainly high
it would for sure
Would indeed, the air from the turbo is possibly leaking out and the ECU is expecting it to still be entering the cylinders as measured by the MAF, fuel quantities will be injected to match the air volume that's not actually there.
hmmm I will check boost pipes, seems strange that it runs fine for days then cuts out again, and you can be driving along and the boost will just cut out for several miles then cut back in and work fine again
It could be anything of course but it's worth ruling the pipework out too.
CEL on? Or have you had it plugged in?
I checked fault codes but got 3 2 maf one O2 sensor...
Maybe clear the codes and see which one comes back first and work from there. Certainly seems likely the MAF is on the way out.
so far no light on the dash, but boost is spluttery.. you can feel her spooling up then cuts back then comes back on again. will change the maf and see how she runs :) hopefully fix it if not will see if any other errors come up

possible solution
Hi I had a similar problem and it was caused by a split pin missing from the turbo waste gate. If you have problems locating it text me 0791391150 and i will send you a picture of where it is. Cheers Craig

The little wire R-clip that secures the wastegate flapper to the actuator rod broke/came free, causing the rod to lift free of the flapper. Ergo, all the boost goes directly out through the w/g port, completely bypassing the turbine. The boost gauge only gets up to 0barg as a result; car feels terrible, as you effectively have a NA motor... BUT running a low CR. :( Good thing of course, is that nothing is broken and it only costs pennies for a replacement C- or R-clip. All that said, I don't think you have that simple mechanical-based scenario, because you say it boosts sometimes. :( |
