Yea saw this was up for sale, it is a stunning car, not quite sure what the deal is as I believe the owner is only 21 or so, and I read the car had been sat up under cover since 2012 until this year, but providing everything works as good as it looks then it would be an awesome thing to own, I don't even think 17k is wide of the mark given the spec and the money it would cost to build something similar, and the 22b running gear makes it even sweeter.

Always remembered that grey type R with the 22B kit fitted that BIG FUD owned years ago, that was for sale for £8k and that looked amazing, still had a lot of time and effort put in!!
http://bbs.22b.com/forums/showthread...Sti-Type-R-20b Now this blue type r is a lovely car, but I feel(my opinion) that £17k is a bit high. But not saying that this car should be priced the same as any other type r as it is special, but maybe £12-13k would probably be more appropriate, dont forget £3k extra would probably be in original 22B territory!! |

Yupwouldget a 22b for that money!!!!!! Insane money for a non cult status classic
But yes agree £17k is high for this, when he mentioned selling on here he wanted "offers". |
Checked the date, not April 1st.
That means (thankfully) I'm not off my head. |

Worth every penny of asking price genuine wrc panels are not cheap,we're not talking cheap body kit here, the rest of the gear is top notch also.

I'm not saying the parts aren't worth a lot of money. But why have a fake 22b when you can get a real one for the same kind of money that will never depreciate.
This is t an 'investment' like a real 22b would be. It is still essentially a bodykitted type r regardless of cost of the panels |
Its not a 22b replica, it's a wrc replica made with genuine wrc panels.

It doesn't say in the advert the panels are steel , just says WRC , I just bought WRC panels last week in fibre/kevlar mix, 2 wings and a bumper for £680 , I'm taking the steel wings off my rally car to keep them safe and refit when I sell it.
I'm guessing the panels are fibre/kevlar mix on this car , WRC cars don't have a filler flap , and steel panels are very rare to find. Still , a lovely car though , looks stunning |
Here is my car
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psadjleq1s.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps4fbdc638.jpg My car has steel front wings , and a fibre/kevlar front bumper , but you can see the bumper doesn't line up with the wing line properly , obviously a poorly made copy , its bugged me since I bought it so the new bumper will fix that. |
If the panels are steel, I've seen figures of £10k mentioned just for the panels alone

It is still essentially a bodykitted type r regardless of cost of the panels As in this, a current topic of discussion: https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...cheap-22b.html Taking things to the extreme regarding the cost and quality of parts, does that mean if you take an MY95 rust bucket with half a million miles on the clock and do it up with WRC steel panels etc. etc. it would be worth £10K, 15, 20 even ? Looks nice, if I had plenty enough spare cash and didn't have to decide between things to spend £17K on then fine. But I, like most, don't so it would be in competition with others re. value for money. I personally don't buy cars primarily for their looks. |
the point is its not a 22b at all, it's made of wrc parts which are different, amazing car and worth the price tag
|
I contacted WRC spares some time ago regarding S5 steel arches and was pretty much told they weren't sold to road cars. Rich's wide arch project over on 22b uses Carbon archs which I've had quotes for around £2k. There was also a fella on here fabricating his own, but they were 22b not S5 arches for around the £2k mark.
Undoubtedly the car has had a lot of money spent on it, but as has been said you are then entering the realms of 22b money. Absolutely stunning looking car, definately one if not my favourite wide arch classic, Ive even suggested this one in threads asking for the best looking Impreza. But a 22b will hold its money, I fear this wouldn't. |
Andy Hughes latest classic on 22b has been built using Kevlar s5/6 panels....no fuel filler assembly came on them...
I personally think 17k is quite strong money....it is very nice though. |

Does nothing for me tbh :) 17k is a lot of money better spent on a better car IMHO. :)

Yep And it's not real but then if it was a real 22b it would be up in the 25k30k mark would it not .
And in 10 - even 5 - years time which car would have retained most of its value - a £30K 22B or this? Having read the thread about the work that went into it (thanks CSW) the owner deserves 17K for his dedication but sadly that doesn't come into it in the marketplace. Who knows though, perhaps some millionnaire's son will see it and ask for it for his birthday, and Colin will get his due reward. |
I'm sure the wings are fibre glass iirc
|
Does say on his thread that they are S6 WRC arches!!!
https://www.scoobynet.com/members-ga...-widearch.html Not sure if there metal or fiberglass arches??? But you can get fiberglass S6 replica arches only from the US from here for around £1,800!! http://aerosim-research.com/catalog/browse |
