Type r v5/6

Are there many good version 5/6 type r's left? I've looked at a few but its been a waste of time.

ditchmyster 06 August 2014 02:17 PM

All classics are getting harder to find in good condition let alone mint.:D

specialx 06 August 2014 02:23 PM

The exchange rate doesn't help fresh imports either I've seen fresh v5's at £8999

Mine must be worth a bob or 2 now then ;)

BBB3 06 August 2014 02:26 PM

They are there, you've just got to be quick and prepared to pay top dollar.

No longer chocolate my friend :norty:

75k on the clock full respray, new arches, fully wax oiled mod list as long as your arm and in mint condition and a 6 page mag feature I wouldn't sell it for 10k :nono:

I've got a cracker!

I paid top dollar (£8k) for mine in January 2013 and wouldn't sell it for a penny less.

Good classics are hard to find, let alone ones you could honestly describe at 'mint'.

Paul.

Here's my minter. Specialx knows it well :)

There may not be 'many but there are some out there, I managed to catch one a few months ago.

Unfortunately you have to be patient & keep looking but I would cap how far you travel to view one unless you knew the car was a minter.

Thats the problem, you travel a long distance and the owner has either intentionally not described the car properly or they genuinely dont have the eye to know what they are selling until it's pointed out to them.

555gc8 06 August 2014 10:37 PM

Those type r's above look very tidy.

LSherratt 07 August 2014 06:35 PM

My realistically affordable dream car is a fresh import WRX STI Type R version 6 limited edition with low miles and in standard mint condition. I emailed a well known Jap import specialist for an idea of the price if one was to be sourced for a customer and an 'on the road price' you're looking at £12-12.5k.

A fresh import, nice low milage Type R version 5/6 you're probably looking at £8-9k...

I'm hopeless on computers & all that jazz but here is a link, they are not the best pics on the iphone, they were taken straight after a Driverskill course at Elvington.

Very nice Tony it looks like a good straight car, seen a cool grey coupe for sale on type-ra but as I read through the ad discovered it was a cat'd:brickwall

555gc8 10 August 2014 02:04 PM

Pm me if any of you hear of a good type r for sale.

cornishscoob 10 August 2014 02:36 PM

I picked up a type r last November, had been looking for about 4 months and one cropped up on eBay of all places, it's a fresh import v6 sti limited edition 191/1000, I traveled from Cornwall to slough with a trailer and got lucky, it's a minter, the underneath stunned me not a bit of rust anywhere and even all the suspension bolts are like new. I paid £6400 has 80k on the clock. All i can say is keep looking they do turn up from time to time. Paul's and steve777 they look lush fella's

BBB3 10 August 2014 03:27 PM

Have been looking for a hawk for a year but just couldn't find the one.
This past Friday just traveled 7h 40min on a train and 338 mile drive back and I got a hawk spec c v limited with 33k in standard condition, what a car and that was one drive back :)

killbill 10 August 2014 04:38 PM

hard to find these days as there all getting rough and needing tlc i find.

one of the reasons i decided not to sell mine and plough more ££ into it and have all the rust etc dealt with and a nice new paint job aswell as a nice new engine build etc ;)

keep looking and 1 will eventually pop up

Tony Harrington 10 August 2014 06:14 PM

Nice one. We are quick on the draw up north in Wigan!! LOL

555gc8 10 August 2014 06:32 PM

Thanks, i hope to find one as fresh as possible, has anyone on here heard or used japanusedcars.com?

Toby Allen 10 August 2014 08:39 PM

I'm in the same boat.

After a White one which is proving very difficult it seems.

Tempted to import one, but conscious I am basically taking pot luck on how long the engine will run before it goes pop.

Ideally want one thats been in the uk a few years and rebuilt with a few 000' miles under its belt.
